Nate Speidel joined the University of Mary in the 2018-19 inaugural season as the goalie coach where he coached an outstanding duo of goaltenders in Lance Knudson and Aaron Nelson. Both goalies finished at the top of the nation in shutouts with five each, as well as finishing near the top in the categories of wins, goals against average, and save percentage. Nelson was named the ACHA M2 West Region Player of the Year and 1st team All-American.
With the addition of 3-time ACHA All-American (2021, 2022, 2023) Kyle Hayden and Conan Hayton, Speidel was instrumental in helping the Marauders earn five All-American awards in five years with three different goaltenders. Hayden led the nation in shutouts with seven in 2021 and 13 in 2023 respectively and was named the ACHA M2 West Region and National Player of the Year in 2022. Speidel's work with the goaltenders was a major key in helping the program win the ACHA Men’s DII National Championships in 2021 and 2022.

A native of Hazen, ND, Speidel spent three seasons with the Hazen/Beulah Northstars. Speidel recorded a school record high 93.6% save average, while achieving All-Region and All-State honors. After finishing high school, Speidel played for the Bismarck Bobcats (NAHL). After his junior career, Speidel played for Saint John’s University (MIAC).

Speidel is currently in his 21st season as the founder and head coordinator of Goalrobber Goalie Schools…In 2012, Speidel earned his master’s degree in Math Education and his Ph.D. in Educational Research in 2022 through the University of North Dakota.
