2021-22 (Redshirt Sophomore)
Appeared in 18 games and started in 14 for the Marauders. Mattern shot 30% from the field and 22% from three. He averaged 3.7 ppg and 2.3 rpg. Mattern scored a season-high 11 points against Minot State University. Named to the Northern Sun Academic Team of Excellence.

Appeared in 16 games for the Marauders. Mattern shot 36% from the field and 26% from three. He averaged 2.5 ppg and 1 rpg. Mattern scored a season-high 12 points against St. Cloud State University.

Mattern is a local kid that left his mark on North Dakota basketball history. The Bismarck native was an ND Mr. Basketball finalist and Co-West Region Senior Athlete of the Year. Mattern led the state in scoring with 23.8 ppg and broke the Century single season scoring record with 642 points. He was also a nominated Gatorade player of the year and ND Mr. Basketball.
