Biography

2013-14 SEASON
Played a significant role for the Marauders as a freshman… Started eight games, including the playoff contest at Southwest Minnesota State… Played in 26 of 28 games… Was fourth on the team in scoring (9.2 PPG)… Led the team in made three-pointers (45)… averaged 2.3 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game… shot 37.7 percent from the field, including 36.6 per cent on three-pointers, and made 79.1 per cent of his free throw attempts… Reached double digits in points 12 times…  Led the Marauders in scoring three times (18 points at Minot State, 25 against Augustana at home, 20 at Northern State)… Hit two of the Marauders biggest shots of the season… His runner at home against St. Cloud State with one second remaining sent the game to overtime… Hit a three-pointer with six seconds at home to force overtime with Sioux Falls… Scored a season-high 25 points against Augustana in a 75-68 home loss…Made 9-of-14 shots from the floor, including a 5-of-7 effort on three-pointers… Nailed 6-of-8 three pointers and scored 20 in a 72-69 loss at Northern State.


PRIOR TO U-MARY
A team captain and two-year starter at Riverside-Brookfield High School, Damonta Henry committed to the Marauders during the early signing period in November 2012.

As a junior in 2011-12, the point guard from Chicago, Ill., averaged 18.0 points, 5.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game while leading his team to a record of 23-5 and a conference championship.

Henry’s efforts earned him the Suburban Life Newspapers Player of the Year award for his section of Chicago. He was a first team All-Conference selection and received 3rd team All-State recognition from the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association for 3A/4A. Henry also was named to the all-tournament team at the Jack Tosh Christmas Classic and earned MVP honors at the Bill VandeMerkt Thanksgiving classic.

As a sophomore (2010-11), Henry averaged 5.0 points a game and 3.0 assists per game to help his team to a record of 23-6 record. The squad captured the conference championship as well as the regional championship.

An Honor Roll student, Damonta is the son of Sandra Williams and plans to major in business at U-Mary.
