A former student manager at NCAA Division I Oklahoma State University, Montel Vidot joined the University of Mary as a men's basketball graduate assistant coach in 2018. The native of Altus, Oklahoma, was a member of the coaching staff of the Big XII conference member Cowboys, who finished the 2017-18 season 21-15 overall and made the third round of the NIT.
“I’m very happy with the hiring of Montel Vidot to our men’s basketball staff,” said Kittell. “Montel comes to us from one of the top basketball programs in all of NCAA Division I. His experience around such a high level will bring a standard to our program that we value. He brings to our program very impressive skills and talents that we look forward implementing into UMary Basketball.”
"Montel is a bright and hard-working young coach who has great passion for his job,” said Oklahoma State head coach Mike Boynton. “He was a tremendous asset to us. I know success will continue to follow him."
As a student manager for Oklahoma State, Vidot helped execute and manage game day operations and also assisted the video coordinator with filing information for opponents. He also assisted the coaching staff in daily and weekly operations and filmed practices, including working with players like Jeffrey Carroll, a 3rd team All-Big XII performer, before and after practice.
A varsity basketball player at Altus High School, Vidot graduated from Oklahoma State University this spring with a degree in Sports Media with an emphasis in Sports Production.
“I am grateful for the opportunity UMary basketball has given me,” said Vidol. “The coaches at Oklahoma State taught me a lot, and my goal is to take that knowledge to North Dakota. Coach Kittell is a great man and I am looking forward to helping him and making this team better.”
