A native of Faith, SD, Jarius "JJ" Halligan joins the University of Mary Men's Basketball coaching staff as a graduate assistant. He joins the Marauders from fellow Northern Sun member  Augustana University where he served as a Student Manager for the Vikings.

A three-year varsity letter winner who helped his high school team make consecutive trips to the state tournament as a junior and senior, Halligan spent his freshman year of college playing for the University of Great Falls in Montana. He then transferred to Augustana University to play Junior varsity basketball and began his coaching journey.

As a student manager for the Vikings, Halligan helped with all aspects of the team, including, player development, practices, travel, and statistics. During his time with the Vikings' coaching staff he helped the team achieve a 34-25 record, including a share of the NSIC South Division Championship in 2019.

Halligan graduated from Augustana with a bachelor of arts degree in sports management and will pursue a master's degree in project management  at the University of Mary.

"I am very excited and thankful for the opportunity Coach Kittell and his Marauders program have given me," said Halligan. "The coaching staff at Augustana University taught me a lot, and I look forward to learning more under Coach Kittell and to help the Marauders continue to compete within the NSIC and Division 2 basketball."

"JJ is going to be a great addition to our program." says Marauders head coach Joe Kittell, "He has a great passion to coach and we feel he will prove to be a vital part to our program."

Halligan replaces Montel Vidot, who moved to a graduate assistant role with sports information at the end of the spring. Halligan joins Coach Kittell's staff with Mike Annese, who returns for his second season.
