A coach with significant experience at both the collegiate and high school levels, Chad Smith joined the University of Mary football staff in 2015 as the running backs coach.

A native of Eden, Mont., and a graduate of Centerville High School, Smith attended Rocky Mountain College in Billings. Mont. A linebacker for the Battlin’ Bears, Smith graduated from RMC with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science with minors in aviation and coaching in 2010. After graduation he became the team’s running backs coach and video coordinator for two years. Smith later became the offensive line coach and the scout team defensive coordinator, in all spending nine seasons at Rocky between playing and coaching.

In 2014 he moved to Williston, N.D., and served as the head coach for the Williston High School Coyotes freshman team. Â
