An NCAA Division I all-conference performer with professional baseball experience, Caleb Palensky joins the Marauders baseball coaching staff as a graduate assistant for the 2016 season.

Palensky started his collegiate coaching experience as a student assistant in the 2015 season for his alma mater, the University of Nebraska Omaha. Working primarily with infielders, he was also the first base coach.

He spent two seasons (2014-15) as the assistant coach for the Papillion Post 32 varsity legion baseball team.

A four-year starter for the Nebraska Omaha Mavericks, Palensky was a three-year captain. He was named the MIAA Freshman of the Year in 2011 and honorable mention all-conference. He helped UNO win consecutive Summit League titles in 2013-14 and earned first team all-Summit League honors as a senior in 2014. He also was named first team Academic All-American and first team Academic All-District 7.

While in college he also played for the Xenia Scouts of the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League (2011) and earned all-league honors, the Waynesboro Generals of the Valley Baseball Summer Collegiate League (2012) and received all-league recognition, and the Medford Rougues of the West Coast Summer Collegiate League (2013).

After college he played professionally for the Gary Southshore Railcats of the American Association.

Palensky graduated from the University of Nebraska Omaha with a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and a minor in Emergency Management. A Dean’s List student, he also earned numerous MIAA and Summit League academic honors and was the UNO Student-Athlete of the year as a senior.
