BISMARCK, ND – The University of Mary wrapped up a perfect home stand with a 2-0 win over Bemidji State University. The victory is the fourth straight for the Marauders at the MDU Resources Community Bowl, and all four came by shutout.
Through six Northern Sun games, the Marauders (5-2-2 overall, 4-1-1 NSIC) stand third in the league standings with 13 points, just a single point out of second and three out of first. With the win, UMary passed BSU (4-2-3, 3-1-2, 11 points) in the standings.
Kadyn Dilger stopped all four shots the Beavers put on frame to earn her fourth straight clean sheet. In perhaps the biggest moment of the game, the junior goalkeeper punched a Bemidji State close-range shot targeting the top of the net over the cross bar just 10 minutes into the game to keep the game scoreless.
With neither team able to fine the net in the first half, the Marauders used a pair of second half set pieces to take control of the game.

Maggie Bono was knocked down by a Beavers defender inside the penalty arc to give the Marauders a free kick.
UMary turned to
Dina Polanco and the leading scorer in the Northern Sun delivered. The Guatemalan national team player drove the ball low through the Beavers defensive wall and passed a screened BSU goalkeeper Rozlyn Buettner to give UMary the 1-0 lead.
The goal is the eighth of the season for Polanco and her fourth game-winning goal.
The Marauders salted away the match in the 79
th minute on a perfectly placed corner kick. Triggering the ball from the right side of the net,
Chloe Brand's service cleared all defenders on the far side of the goal box and found the leg of
Bella Kozlowski. The UMary junior defender met the ball in the air and delivered a powerful one-timer into the left side of the net to increase UMary's lead to an insurmountable 2-0.
UMary finished with a 9-5 edge in shots with both teams placing four shots on frame. The Marauders held a massive 11-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Next up for the Marauders is three straight roads games with matches next weekend at Augustana (4 pm Friday, October 2) and Wayne State College (1 pm Sunday, October 4).
