UMary names Schultz associate head coach of cross country/track and field

BISMARCK, ND – The University of Mary has named Steven Schultz the associate head coach of cross country/track and field. He was previously the head cross country coach at Minot State University.

Schultz had led the Beavers' cross country program since 2023 and was also the interim head track and field coach in Spring 2024. At Minot State, he coached a pair of track and field NCAA All-Americans and four NSIC Champions.

"Our program is very excited to have Steven Schultz start his journey with us," said UMary cross country/track and field program director Cale Korbelik. "We feel with his experience in the conference and division that he can hit the ground running with a great group of athletes in cross country, distance, and middle-distance events. Steven fits our program's mission and vision which will help him prosper now and into the future at the University of Mary."

Schultz competed for Concordia University, Nebraska, from 2007 to 2011 in distance events. In 2018, he began coaching at Mount Marty University as an assistant cross country coach while coaching the jumpers and multi-athletes on the track and field team. Under his tutelage, Mount Marty had NAIA All-American multi-athletes each season from 2020 to 2022.

At UMary, he will be guiding a team of strong distance runners. The Marauders claimed five conference championships in outdoor distance events last season. UMary also had three All-NSIC finishers at the cross country conference championships.
