TACKLE HUNGER FOOD DRIVE SET FOR SATURDAY
The UMary Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) is holding a Tackle Hunger Food Drive at the Marauders football game Saturday, September 19, to support Dream Center in Bismarck. Fans are encouraged to bring non-perishable items starting at 12 noon in the tailgate area. Each donated item earns an entry for a UMary merchandise giveaway. High need items include: snack-size bags of chips, pretzels, etc.; sliced cheese; Sam's Club or Costco gift cards; gluten-free individually packed snacks; gluten free bread; squeezable jelly; fruit cups; diapers (sizes 6, 7, 8); baby and adult wipes; laundry soap (50-70 oz); shampoo and conditioner; toothpaste; Ziplock bags; to-go Styrofoam containers; 12 oz Styrofoam cups; 1 oz portion cups & lids.

The Marauders earned a 13-10 win at Concordia-St. Paul… The Cougars edged visiting MSU Moorhead 29-28 in overtime.
 
MARAUDERS-COUGARS HISTORY LESSON

• This is the 18^th meeting between the Marauders and the Cougars
• USF leads the series 13-4 and owns seven straight wins
• UMary is 3-7 at home and 1-6 at USF
• The series started in 1988, the first Marauders football season
• After USF won the first two meetings, UMary won the next three, including an NAIA playoff game in 1995
• The two programs met five times in the NAIA playoffs, the last time in 2002
• UMary won the first NCAA D2 meeting between the schools 17-10 in 2013. Craig Bagnell threw for 323 yards and a TD to Nick Jolliffe. Vince Ferrante ran for the winning TD with under five minutes to play. It is the last Marauders win over the Cougars.

LAST USF-UM MEETING | Down 15 points late in the game, the Marauders pulled within two points and had possession in the final minute of play in a 35-33 road loss to the Cougars. Andrew Trandahl returned a kick 89 yards for a score, Majeeb Rufai caught 12 passes for 124 yards, Karsyn Jablonski added 103 yards on seven catches and Sofian Massoud ran and threw for TDs and passed for 305 yards. Camden Dean passed for 297 yards and four TDs and ran for 72 yards to lead USF.
 
WEEK 2 RECAP
A fourth down sack by University of Mary defensive lineman Vegas George emphatically sealed the Marauders 13-10 road win over Concordia-St. Paul and capped a historic defensive effort for UMary. An attacking Marauders defense held the Golden Bears to just 142 yards of offense and nine first downs. The 142 yards allowed sets a team record for a Northern Sun game and the nine first downs ties the team NSIC mark. The previous record for fewest yards allowed was 146 to the University of Minnesota Crookston in 2007. In 2008 and 2010 UMary limited UMC to nine first downs.
 
The Marauders claimed a 7-0 lead on a Xavier Brackenridge 1 yard run. UMary took a 10-3 lead on a John Girard 27 yard field goal in the 3^rd before CSP tied the game.
 
To start the 4^th quarter, the Marauders drove 64 yards on 17 plays to set up a 23 yard field goal by Girard to win the game. The drive consumed 9:04 of the clock. George then finished the game with a 4^th down sack at midfield with under 2:00 to play.

MARAUDERS SET TEAM DEFENSIVE RECORDS IN WIN AT CSP
The Marauders defense set a pair of Northern Sun team records in the UMary 13-10 win at Concordia-St. Paul.

• 142 yards allowed - UMary held CSP to 142 yards of offense (63 yards rushing, 79 yards passing). The previous record was 146 yards against the University of Minnesota Crookston in 2007.
• 9 first downs allowed – UMary limited CSP to nine first downs to tie the NSIC program record (limited UMC to nine first downs in 2008 and 2010).

 
VEGAS GEORGE NAMED NSIC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Twice ending 4th quarter drives with sacks, University of Mary defensive lineman Vegas George earned Northern Sun Defensive Player of the Week honors for his efforts in the Marauders 13-10 road win over Concordia-St. Paul. George posted two sacks and 3.5 tackles for loss in a record performance for the Marauders defense. The Bismarck, ND, native also totaled seven tackles and forced a fumble. Both sacks by George came in the fourth quarter. On the first play of the fourth quarter with the game tied 10-10, George sacked the Golden Bears quarterback and forced a fumble, leading to a CSP punt and a game-winning drive for the UMary offense. With UMary preserving a 13-10 lead and CSP facing a 4th-and-5 with 1:55 to play, George blew past all blockers for his second sack to end both the Golden Bears possession and hopes for victory.
 
SACK CITY
The Marauders lead the Northern Sun in sacks with 12 through three games, one ahead of Concordia-St. Paul. Vegas George and Travis Biery rank 1-2 in the NSIC in sacks. Geroge leads the way with four and Biery has three. Jett Solomon, Christpher Federico, Lane Bradley and Sean Cotton have one each with Christian Arteaga and Javon Maxey sharing a sack… Nationally the Marauders rank 11^th in NCAA D2 with 3.5 sacks/game. 
 
SEPARATION ANXIETY
The Marauders have forced four fumbles this season to lead the NSIC.
 
CENTURY CODE
Karsyn Jablonski became the 16^th Marauder to haul in 100 career passes with his second catch in the Minnesota State game. The senior wide receiver from Mandan, ND, owns 105 career receptions for 1,517 yards and 12 touchdowns. He ranks 16^th in UMary history for catches and 13^th in yardage… Next on the receptions list is Brent Walker (107 catches), Brady Martin (111) and Chris Buchholtz (114), Mike Ressler (118) and Mujeeb Rufai (118)… Jablonski is right behind his former teammate Luke Bodine (1,574) on the receiving yardage list… through two games this season Jablonski has 15 catches for 224 yards and two scores.
 
200 AND COUNTING
Christopher Federico became the 15^th Marauder to crack 200 career tackles in the CSP win. The UMary team captain has 207 career stops and ranks 13^th all-time at UMary. One of the nation's leading tacklers, the Henderson, NV, linebacker now looks to pass Russ Tripp (213), Austin Bolton (214) and Justin Russetti (221) to move into the top 10.  
 
198 AND COUNTING
The Marauders 13-10 win at Concordia-St. Paul is the 198^th win in program history. This is the 38^th season of UMary football, dating back to the program's first varsity season in 1988. (NOTE no games were played in 2020).   
 
AIR AND GROUND SUPPORT
Abram Jopp is making his presence felt on the ground and the air. The All-NSIC defensive back is tied for the NSIC lead in interceptions with two (including a 42-yard TD return) and is second on the team with 19 tackles. He has forced a fumble and has a pass breakup.  
 
JETT-ING AROUND
Jett Solomon covered a lot of ground from his safety position. Over three games he has 12 tackles – including a sack and 1.5 tackles for loss - and has broken up three passes. He leads the team in breakups and is 5^th in tackles. 
 
BIERY BIERY GOOD
Travis Biery is off to a tremendous start. After posting two sacks in the season opener to earn NSIC Defensive Player of the Week honors, he is second in the NSIC in sacks (3.0) and third in tackles for loss (4.5).  
 
KA-BOOM
Junior punter/running back Carter Henke is off to a booming start to the season. Through three games he leads the nation in punting, averaging 52.5 yards/punt. Eight of his 12 punts travelled over 50 yards with a long of 68. Four punts have been downed inside the 20 yard line. Additionally the Bismarck, ND, native has carried the ball three times and has a tackle.
 
NCAA D2 RANKINGS

• Carter Henke is the nation's leader in punting with an average of 52.5 yards per punt
• Abram Jopp is #14 in interceptions (.67/game)
• Christopher Federico is #3 in solo tackles (7.67/game) and 24^th in total tackles (10.7/game)

WELCOME COACHES
Head coach Shann Schillinger has added several new faces to his coaching staff in 2026, including offensive coordinator Austin Brown, offensive line coach Mike Person, linebacker coaches Sean Weatherspoon and Greg Hudson, and assistants Tyler Hennings, Hunter Mayginnes and Lane Caraballo… Austin Brown joins UMary from Bemidji State University and is a graduate of Dickinson State University… Mike Person is a former NFL offensive lineman from Glendive, MN… Sean Weatherspoon was a first round draft choice by the Atlanta Falcons in the 2010 NFL draft and coached Pace Academy last season… Greg Hudson played at Notre Dame and served as the defensive coordinator for the Fighting Irish, Purdue and East Carolina and has coached in NCAA Division I for over three decades. 
 
NFL TIES THAT BIND
The Marauders feature four coaches who have played in the NFL… Head coach Shann Schillinger was drafted in the sixth round of the 2010 draft by the Atlanta Falcons and played four seasons (2010-2013) for the Falcons and the Tennessee Titans… Thomas DeCoud was drafted in the 3^rd round of the 2008 NFL draft by the Atlanta Falcons and played seven seasons in the NFL with the Falcons (2008-13) and the Carolina Panthers (2014), earning a spot in the Pro Bowl in 2012… Mike Person was selected in the seventh round of the 2011 draft by the San Francisco 49ers and played nine seasons in the NFL for the 49ers, Indianapolis Colts, Seatle Seahawks, St. Louis Rams, Falcons and Kansas City Chiefs, playing 73 games between 2011-19 before joining the Miami Dolphins as an offensive assistant… Sean Weatherspoon was taken by the Atlanta Falcons in the first round of the 2010 NFL draft, playing eight seasons for the Falcons (seven years) where he was a team captain and the Arizona Cardinals (one year) after an All-American career at Missouri.

Cameron Brusven, Karsyn Jablonski, Conner Harvison, Colter Harvison, Hudsen Sheldon, Levi Keeney, Brady Ruggles, Dano Hughes and Lincoln Lemar are 2nd generation Marauders as their father's played football for the Marauders… DJ Gabriel and Parker Gabriel are brothers… Xavier and Jaquawn Brackenridge are brothers… Ethan and Evan Heinrich are brothers… Luke Dockter's father Jeff coached several seasons at UMary… Logan Dockter's mother Angela played volleyball for the Marauders… Brothers Conner Harvison and Colter Harvison's mother Jennifer also played volleyball at UMary and their father Wayne was a 4-time wrestling All-American and is a member of the Marauders Hall of Fame… Hudsen Sheldon's mother Mandy is a member of the Marauders Hall of Fame for her track & field exploits… Dano Hughes' father Dan is a member of the Marauders Hall of Fame as a 2-time national wrestling champion and his mother Kristin played volleyball for UMary… Brady Ruggles father Reed is a member of the Marauders 1999 Hall of Fame football team.
 
TWO TRAVELING TROPHIES
The Marauders play two games annually for travelling trophies. UMary is a combined 13-17 in trophy games. The Marauders are 8-11 in the "Battle for the Paddle" with MSU Moorhead and 5-6 in the "Battle for the Big Lake" against Minot State.
 
2026 MARAUDERS HONORS

• HENKE NAMED THE COLLEGE FOOTBALL NETWORK D-2 SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK Combining both explosive distance and deft touch in a dazzling season debut, University of Mary punter Carter Henke is The College Football Network D-2 Special Teams Player of the Week for his efforts in the Marauders 2026 Week 0 victory. Henke placed the Rocky Mountain College offense in a precarious position all game, downing three of his five punts inside the three yard line. He averaged 62.6 yards per punt and all five punts covered more than 50 yards (65, 68, 65, 63, 52). The Bismack, ND, native's first two punts of the day were downed at the Battlin' Bears 1 and 3 yard lines, respectively, forcing RMC to start its first two drives in the shadow of its own goal line. His last effort of the day was placed at the 2 yard line as the Marauders looked to preserve their lead in the 23-10 win. Henke ranks first in NCAA Division II in punting average.
• BIERY NAMED NSIC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK Creating chaos that led directly to two University of Mary touchdowns in a season-opening win, senior Travis Biery is the Northern Sun Football Defensive Player of the Week. The defensive lineman from Sauk Rapids, MN, had two sacks, forced a fumble and made six tackles in the Marauders 23-10 win over Rocky Mountain College. Both of Biery's sacks came on third down plays. His first sack halted the Battlin' Bears opening drive of the second half as he pulled the quarterback down at the visitor's 20. A 4-yard punt followed. The Marauders took advantage of the excellent field position to score their second touchdown, extending UMary's lead to 17-3. Late in the third quarter, Biery forced a fumble with a sack at the RMC 22. UMary's Christopher Federico recovered the fumble and returned the ball to the RMC 14. Two plays later, the Marauders scored on the first play of the fourth quarter to claim a 23-10 advantage.
• JABLONSKI NAMED UMARY'S NSIC OFFENSIVE PLAYER TO WATCH Senior WR Karsyn Jablonski is the Marauders NSIC Offensive Player to Watch for 2026. The Mandan, ND, native was one of the top receivers in the NSIC last season with 50 catches for 706 yards and seven touchdowns. He averaged 14.1 yards per catch and 5.0 receptions per game for a UMary team that ranked 10th in NCAA Division II in passing yards/game. Jablonski ranked 5th in the NSIC in touchdown catches, 8th in receptions and 9th in receiving yards… Cracking the century mark four times last season, Jablonski set a Marauders NCAA-era record for longest receiving touchdown with a 97 yard jaunt against Winona State University in the home finale. He finished with a career-best 186 yards receiving against the Warriors and caught two TDs… With 90 catches for 1,293 yards and 10 touchdowns, Jablonski has a chance to finish his career in the top ten of all three categories
• FEDERICO NAMED UMARY'S NSIC DEFENSIVE PLAYER TO WATCH The Marauders leader in tackles each of the last two seasons, Christopher Federico has also ranked among the top tacklers in the NSIC. In 2025, the UMary linebacker made 73 stops, including 53 solo tackles. The native of Henderson, NV, recorded seven tackles for loss with 2.5 sacks. He also intercepted a pass and broke up two others. Federico earned NSIC Defensive Player of the Week honors for his efforts in a 40-9 UMary win at Southwest Minnesota State University after making 3.5 tackles for loss, among his 11 tackles on the day. For the 2025 season Federico ranked fifth in the NSIC for solo tackles and tackles per game (7.3). With 175 career tackles and 120 solo stops, he is on pace to crack the top 10 list all-time for the Marauders.

 
THE BLAIR PITCH & CATCH PROJECT
In three starts last season in his first year with the Marauders, QB Ryan Blair has exploited defenses for over 300 yards each time. In the Week 0 win over Midland, the graduate transfer from Whitworth University passed for 303 yards and four TDs. Returning after missing three weeks due to injury, the Spokane, WA, native threw for 348 yards and two scores against Northern State. In a win at Jamestown he passed for 341 yards and three TDs without an interception to earn NSIC Offensive Player of the Week honors. In his three games Blair completed 69% of his passes (82-of-119) 992 yards and nine touchdowns with just three interceptions.

2025 ROLLBACK

• UMary ranked 10th in the nation in passing yardage with 300 yards/game despite starting four different quarterbacks
• The Marauders four wins was the most for the program since 2021
• UMary ranked 14th in the nation in first downs
• Karsyn Jablonski caught a 97-yard scoring pass from Jordan Polo Solomon against Winona State to set a Marauders record for the longest pass in program history
• Luke Bodine earned Don Hansen honorable mention All-American honors after setting program records for a tight end with 70 catches for 796 yards and 10 TDs
• WR Damani Wilks and LB Mason Phillips both earned first team All-Northern Sun honors with DB Abram Jopp and TE Luke Bodine claiming second team recognition
