ST. CLOUD, MN – Closing out a record-setting season with another series win, the University of Mary finished a program-best third in the final 2026 Northen Sun baseball standings and will be the third seed in the NSIC tournament.
The Marauders earned their first-ever series win over St. Cloud State University with a doubleheader sweep on Friday. UMary's record 11-game win streak was snapped Saturday as SCSU claimed a 12-3 victory in the final game of the regular season.
UMary finishes the regular season 34-16 overall and 27-10 in the Northern Sun. SCSU ends its season 21-28 overall and 17-19 in the NSIC.
The Marauders have won seven straight weekend series and swept four straight midweek doubleheaders. UMary broke programs record for wins in a season, NSIC wins and consecutive wins (11) while placing a program-best third in the NSIC standings.
Additionally the Marauders are ranked sixth in the latest NCAA Division II Central Region rankings, the first year UMary has cracked the regional rankings. The Marauders also received votes for the ABCA NCAA Division II poll for the first time.
The Northern Sun baseball tournament is slated for May 6-9 in Sioux Falls, SD. Games will be played at the Sioux Falls Stadium Birdcage and Augustana's Ronken Field. The winner of the double elimination tournament automatically qualifies for the NCAA Central Region tournament.

The #3 seed UMary will open the 2026 NSIC baseball tournament against #6 Winona State University. The Marauders and the Warriors will play at 6 pm on Wednesday, May 6, at Ronken Field.

Should the Marauders win their opening game against Winona State, UMary then plays the winner of the Minnesota State/Minot State game at 3:30 pm Thursday at the Birdcage. An opening day loss will pit the Marauders against the loser of the Mavericks/Beavers game at 12 noon Thursday at Ronken Field.
In the final tuneup before postseason play, the heart of the Marauders order recorded seven of UMary's ten hits. Shortstop
Hank Griffin was 3-for-4 with an RBI. He was also one of four Marauders to be hit by a pitch.
Isaac Pegors and
Bryce Leafgren both had two hits. Leafgren doubled and drove in a run and Pegors scored once.
Kaden Coldwell tosses two scoreless innings for UMary. The freshman has now strung together five straight scoreless outings covering 7.1 innings.
Eric Bello had a big day for the Huskies. He opened the scoring with a two-run home run in the first inning. Twice he cleared the fences and finished with three RBIs. Wilmis Castro added a first-inning home run as SCSU jumped out to a 5-0 lead. Castro also finished with two home runs, added a double, posted four hits, drove in two runs and scored three times.
