MINOT, ND – Missed opportunities would prove costly for the University of Mary softball team (10-26, 0-14 Northern Sun) as UMary fell 7-0, 10-2 to Minot State University (22-16, 7-7 NSIC).
The Marauders returns home to host the University of Minnesota Crookston on Saturday, April 11, at noon at the UMary Softball Field.
GAME 1 University of Mary 0 MSU 7
The Marauders would load the bases at the top of the first inning with one out. The Beavers would pitch out of the bases-loaded jam and kept the game scoreless.
MSU opened the scoring in the bottom of the third inning after posting four runs. The Beavers added one run in the fifth and two in the sixth to take a 7-0 lead.
UMary had runners reach base in the first five innings, including loading the bases again in the bottom of the fifth inning. The Marauders were unable to deliver the big hit to get runs on the board and were shut out over seven innings by the Beavers.
The Marauders finished the game with two hits and seven walks, while the Beavers had nine hits and nine walks.

Jenel Mallari went 1-for-2 with one walk.
Jianna Cota went 0-for-0 with three walks.
Cassidy Bagnell went 1-for-4.
Kaitlyn McLaughlin went 0-for-3 with one walk and one steal.
GAME 2 University of Mary 2 MSU 10 F/5
The Beavers grabbed a 5-0 lead at the bottom of the first inning. MSU would add an insurance run in the second inning to hold a six-run lead.
Bree Waldron, Genevieve Hastings, and Janelle Bergmann each hit singles to load the bases in top of the third inning. Waldron and Hastings would come around to score on fielder's choices hit by Francesca Villaneda and Claire Tompkins to make the score 6-2.
The Beavers would score four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to walk the game off at 10-2. UMary had three hits and one walk, while MSU recorded nine hits and nine walk.
