ST. CLOUD, MN – The University of Mary softball team (10-16, 0-4 Northern Sun) dropped their road doubleheader 10-2, 8-0 to St. Cloud State University (21-9, 3-1 NSIC).
The Marauders will host their first home games of the season on Saturday, March 28, when they welcome Winona State University to the UMary softball field.
GAME 1 University of Mary 2 SCSU 10 F/5
The Huskies jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. SCSU would add two more runs in the second inning.
UMary got on the board in the top of the fourth inning when Bree Waldron and Jianna Cota came home to score after Ariana Retuta reached on an error by the Huskies first baseman. SCSU responded with two runs in the fourth to take a 10-2 lead.
The Marauders recorded their first hit of the game in the top of the fifth when Daisy Sparrow singled up the middle. UMary failed to capitalize as the Huskies won 10-2 after five innings.
The Marauders finished the game with one hit and two walks, while the Huskies had nine hits and five walks.

Jianna Cota went 0-1 with one walk and one run scored.
GAME 2 University of Mary 0 SCSU 8
The Huskies scored all eight of their runs in the first inning. The Marauders offense struggled as Daisy Sparrow would again get the only hit for UMary in the second inning. SCSU would earn a shutout and win 8-0 after five innings.
Arria Johnson pitched all four innings, allowing three earned runs and striking out two batters. The Marauders had one hit and five walks, while the Huskies had nine hits and one walk.
