ST. PETERSBURG, FL – The University of Mary tennis team (1-5, 1-3 Northern Sun) was defeated 7-0 on the road to Eckerd College to open their Spring Break matches.

UMary fell 3-0 in doubles competition, giving the Tritons one team point. Elizabete Lekse and Natalia Jorge Magarzo lost a hard-fought battle in #1 doubles 6-4 to Cate Cole and Olivia Lindestaf. Josie Sueflohn and Anna Sueflohn fell 6-3 in #2 doubles to Maialen Idiakez and Valentina Sanchez Bronzetti. Brooke Mulholland and Maja Panganiban lost #3 doubles to Fiona Orza and Laura Anastasia Ullrich 6-1.

Natalia Jorge Magarzo dropped #1 singles 6-0, 7-5 to Olivia Lindestaf.

#2 singles saw Elizabete Lekse defeated by Valentina Sanchez Bronzetti 6-1, 7-5.

Josie Sueflohn lost 6-1, 6-1 against Maialen Idiakez in #3 singles.

Anna Sueflohn fell in a tough contest in #4 singles against Laura Anastasia Ullrich 7-5, 6-3.

Maja Panganiban was defeated 6-2, 6-0 in #5 singles to Cate Cole.

Rounding out the Marauders lineup, Brooke Mulholland would lose 6-3, 6-2 to Lara Machado in #6 singles.

The Marauders travel to Orland, FL, to take on NCAA Division I Bethune-Cookman University on Sunday, February 28, at 11 am.
