CROOKSTON, MN – The University of Mary women's basketball team (21-8, 14-6 Northern Sun) got back to their winning ways with an impressive 87-68 road victory over the University of Minnesota Crookston (8-18, 7-13 NSIC). The Marauders currently in 4
th place in the NSIC standings with two games to go.
Emily Jaenke led UMary in scoring, knocking down a season-high seven three pointers to drop 21 points. The Appleton, WI, native knocked down her 100
th career three-pointer against the Golden Eagles and finished the game with 106. Jaenke also had six rebounds, three assists, and one block.
Allison Undlin finished the game perfect from the field, shooting 10-of-10 from the floor. Undlin brought down seven rebounds and added two assists.
Bergan Kinnebrew posted 18 points, four assists, and four rebounds.
Anna Lenzen recorded 12 points, eight rebounds, and four assists.
Chloe Pfau had seven points, four rebounds, four steals, and three assists.
Eden Fridley dished out six assists to go along with six points and four rebounds.
Both offenses started the game on fire as UMary held a 23-20 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Marauders defense would step up in the second quarter, holding the Golden Eagles to 25% from the field. UMary would take a 46-30 lead going into halftime.
The Marauders continued to cruise on offense in the third quarter to extend their lead to 65-48. Jaenke would score nine of her 21 points in the fourth quarter as UMary took down UMC 87-68.
UMary shot 36-of-69 (52.2%) from the field and 12-of-19 (41.4%) from behind the arc, while UMC went 23-of-57 (40.4%) from the floor and 10-of-27 (37%) from the field. The Marauders shot 3-of-3 from the free-throw line, while the Golden Eagles went 12-of-16 (75%) from the charity stripe.
The Marauders outrebounded the Golden Eagles 38-32. UMary committed six turnovers, compared to ten giveaways by UMC.
The Marauders head to Aberdeen, SD, to take on Northern State University on Thursday, February 19, at 5:30 pm.
