MANDAN, ND – Dain Sardelli closed the #11 University of Mary men's hockey team's deficit to a single goal midway through the third period but the Marauders couldn't find the equalizer in a 2-1 loss to I-94 rival #7 University of Jamestown in The Jug series finale for 2025-26.
 
UMary slips to 20-10-0-0-0-1 (W-L-OTL-T-SOW-SOL) overall, 17-10-0-0-0-1 against ACHA MD1 teams and 4-5-0-0-0-0 in MCH play (12 points). Additionally the Marauders are 11-10-0-0-0-0 when playing nationally ranked teams. Jamestown is 18-11-1-0-1-0 overall and owns 17 MCH points in ten games.
 
The win is the fourth in five games for the Jimmies over the Marauders as Jamestown retains possession of The Jug travelling trophy.
 
In a similar pattern to the Jimmies 2-0 home win on Friday, Jamestown scored single goals in each of the first two periods.
 
Jamestown opened the scoring just 2:29 into the game with a power play goal by Carson Brown.
 
A penalty cost the Marauders again in the second when the Jimmies increased their lead to 2-0 on their second goal with a man advantage at 14:04.
 
UMary finally broke through in the third on an unassisted goal by Sardelli at 11:19. Picking up a loose puck along the near boards, the UMary forward reversed course in the left circle. Skating towards the net Sardelli rifled a shot just inside the left post under the crossbar to pull the Marauders within one. It was Sardelli's 17^th goal of the season.
 
UMary fought to keep the puck in the Jamestown defensive zone but was unable to put a second puck past Jimmies netminder Brandon Weare.
 
Caleb Cross had another big night in net for UMary. After posting a season-high 43 saves in Friday's game, Cross finished the night with 37. Weare turned aside 31 UMary shots.
 
Specialty teams proved big in the game. UMary was unable to score on its one opportunity with a man advantage while Jamestown went 2-for-4 on the power play.
 
Saturday started a streak of playing six of the Marauders final seven regular season games at home. UMary next hosts #18 Midland University on Friday and Saturday, January 30-31.
