MOORHEAD, MN – It was a tight contest for the University of Mary swimming and diving team (5-0) as they defeated Minnesota State University 147-146 on the road. The Marauders won seven swimming events.
The dual opened with the 200 Yard Medley Relay, where the team of
Olivia Gibbons,
Emma Sheppard,
Peyton Wunderlich, and
Maria Strong took it down with a time of 1:49.29.
Samantha Sheridan (11:13.61) and her sister,
Lola Sheridan (11:40.67), finished first and second in the 1000 Yard Freestyle.
Olivia Gibbons was dominant in the 100 Yard Breaststroke, recording a time of 1:06.43, which was three seconds faster than second place. Gibbons picked up another victory in the 200 Yard Breaststroke with an impressive time of 2:27.12.
Samantha Sheridan (5:31.67),
Elise Altringer (5:33.38), and
Gabrielle Evanson (5:35.88) took the top three spots in the 500 Yard Freestyle.
Taylor Miller picked up a critical win in the 200 Yard IM after she posted a time of 2:14.18.
Elise Altringer placed runner-up in the 200 Yard Freestyle, finishing with a time of 1:58.96.
Maria Strong (1:01.97) and
Felicity McCallen (1:05.23) took second and third in the 100 Yard Backstroke.
Lola Sheridan claimed silver in the 200 Yard Butterfly with a time of 2:25.60.
Emma Sheppard (25.50) and
Taylor Miller (25.58) grabbed second and third place in the 50 Yard Freestyle.
Peyton Wunderlich took second in the 100 Yard Butterfly, posting a time of 54.59.
The 200 Yard Backstroke would see
Grace Urke (2:13.25) and
Maria Strong (2:14.39) take second and third.
The dual ended in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay, where the team of
Olivia Gibbons,
Peyton Wunderlich,
Elise Altringer, and
Maria Strong grabbed first place with a time of 3:37.52.
The Marauders travel to Mendota Heights, MN, to compete against Concordia-St. Paul on Saturday, January 24, at 11:30 am.
