BOULDER, CO – A big night in net for Zane Clausen and a pair of goals plus two assists by Crae Dawson led the #10 University of Mary hockey team to a 6-0 road win over the University of Colorado, completing the Marauders weekend and season sweep of the Buffaloes.
 
The Marauders earned their second straight shutout over the Buffaloes after defeating Colorado 8-0 on Friday. UMary defeated Colorado in all four meetings this season, including a pair of home games in September.
 
UMary improves to 20-8-0-0-0-1 (W-L-OTL-T-SOW-SOL) overall and 17-8-0-0-0-1 against ACHA MD1 teams. Colorado is 7-13-1-0-0-1 overall.
 
Since taking to the ice for the first time in the 2018-19 season, UMary has now won at least 20 games in all eight years.
 
For a second straight game, early goals proved hard to come by. In the closing seconds of the first period, Clausen turned aside a breakaway attempt by the Buffaloes, making a save to keep the game scoreless after the first period.
 
Dain Sardelli opened the scoring in the opening minute of the second period. Picking up the puck in the right corner, Sardelli skated into the right circle before whipping a shot past Buffaloes goaltender Matthew Server with just 37 seconds coming off the clock.
 
With Colorado soon on the power play, Clausen made three big saves to preserve the UMary lead.
 
Forced to kill off another Buffaloes power play moments after the first one expired, the Marauders doubled their lead on an even strength goal when Levi Flatley fired a centering pass from behind the net to Dawson in the slot. Unfettered by any defender, the UMary forward buried the puck into the back of the net.
 
Just 37 seconds later at 6:22, Dawson set up the Marauders third goal of the period. Centering a pass from the left circle, Bradshaw knocked home the puck from the right side of the crease.
 
Despite providing the Buffaloes four power play opportunities in the second period, Clausen kept Colorado off the scoreboard as UMary entered the second intermission leading 3-0.
 
The Marauders put the game away in the third period on goals by Alex Senf, Flatley and Dawson.
 
For Flatley, the goal was his first at UMary. He also had two assists in the game. Additionally Bradshaw had a goal and two assists.
 
This was the fourth time in his two seasons at UMary that Dawson had scored two goals in a game. It was the third time he registered two assists. The four points are a career-high.
 
Clausen stopped all 34 shots he faced to post his first shutout of the season. It is the third shutout this season for UMary. Server finished with 40 saves.
 
The two teams finished a combined 0-for-11 on power play opportunities with Colorado unable to find the net on six attempts.
 
UMary wraps up its four-game road trip at #8 University of Jamestown on Friday, January 23. The Jug Series then comes back to Mandan, ND, on Saturday, January 24, when the Marauders host the Jimmies at 7 pm.
