BISMARCK, ND – An outstanding performance on the mound from
Aiden Johnson and a walk-off grand slam from
Isaac Pegors secured the University of Mary baseball team an NSIC tournament berth and a split against the University of Minnesota Duluth. The Marauders (24-24 overall, 20-19 NSIC) took down game one 4-0, and the Bulldogs (24-25, 20-19) grabbed game two 12-0.
UMary and UMD remain tied for sixth place in the NSIC standings. If the Marauders win on Saturday against the Bulldogs, they will have sole possession of sixth place in the standings. If UMary were to lose, the Marauders would finish in seventh or eighth place, depending on the result of the University of Minnesota Crookston-Northen State University matchup.
UMary hosts senior night against UMD at noon on Saturday, May 3, at the Bismarck Municipal Ballpark. The Marauders honor

Aiden Johnson pitched a gem for UMary in game one. The Westminster, CO, native went all seven innings and allowed zero runs on six hits while striking out four batters.
The Bulldogs had runners reach third base in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings. Johnson managed to get out of trouble in each inning, striking out the final batters in the sixth and seventh innings.
PIVOT POINT
Back-to-back two-out singles by
Luke Rhee and
Kalem Haney in the bottom of the seventh inning put the winning run in scoring position.
Hank Griffin then was hit by a pitch to load the bases.
Isaac Pegors, the NSIC home run leader, smashed a home run over the center field wall to walk the game off in a 4-0 Marauders victory.

After a scoreless first inning, the Bulldogs took control of the game with three runs in the second inning. UMD added three runs in the third and fourth innings to take a 9-0 lead. The Bulldogs scored their fourth three-run inning in the sixth to hold a 12-0 advantage.
The Marauders offense was held to two hits as UMary was shut out in game two. The game finished 12-0 in favor of the Bulldogs.
