MARSHALL, MN – A record-setting day by
Noah Hull and
Isaac Pegors helped the University of Mary take a step forward towards clinching a spot in the 2025 Northern Sun baseball tournament. After entering the weekend tied for eighth place in the NSIC, a series win over Southwest Minnesota State University lifted UMary into a tie for sixth place. The Marauders outscored the Mustangs 18-13 on Sunday to win two of the weekend's three games.
Hull broke the Marauders career record for hits. The senior from Scarborough, Ontario, banged out three hits in the final game against the Mustangs and now owns 200 in his Marauders career. The two-time All-Northern Sun performer broke the previous mark of 198 by his former teammate Cal James. Hull is also UMary's career leader for runs batted in.
Hull finished the game 3-for-6 with two doubles, three runs scored and two RBIs.
Pegors broke the Marauders single season records for home runs and RBIs in the game. After hitting a home run, driving in five runs and scoring three times, the sophomore outfielder from Bismarck, ND, has 15 home runs and 57 RBIs this season. The previous record was 14 home runs by Derek Shoen (2022) and 54 RBIs by
Josh Walker (2023).
Additionally
Krece Papierski tied the school's NCAA record for hits in a game with five. The senior outfielder went 5-for-6 in the game with two doubles, a run scored and three RBIs. The last UMary player with five hits in a game was
Bryce Leafgren at Missouri Western earlier this season.
Tied 1-1 after the first inning, the Marauders blew the game open with a 10-run second inning. Papierski doubled home a run to open the scoring.
Kieran Gaffney followed with a 2-run single and
Hank Griffin cracked a 2-run double. Pegors drove home his second run of the day on a single before Hull knocked in two with a double. With his second hit of the inning, Papierski drove in another run. The scoring concluded on an RBI fielder's choice by
Mikey Ramirez, giving UMary an 11-1 lead.
Pegors broke the season home run and RBI record in the third with a 2-run shot over the centerfield wall. Papierski then delivered another run-scoring single. A 3-run home run by Leafgren – his third round-tripper of the weekend – increased the UMary lead to 17-2 in the fourth inning.
The Marauders plated their 18
th run in the 5
th inning on a Pegors RBI ground out for an 18-4 advantage.
Ryan Chamberlain earned his second win of the week as he struck out seven and walked one in 5.0 innings of work.
UMary improves to 22-22 overall and 18-17 in the NSIC. SMSU is 23-19 and 18-17. UMary and SMSU are tied for 6
th place in the NSIC with the University of Minnesota Crookston, which visits UMary on Tuesday. The top eight teams in the final standings qualify for the conference tournament.

The Marauders close out the 2025 regular season with five straight home games. UMary first hosts the University of Minnesota Crookston in a doubleheader starting at 1:30 pm on Tuesday, April 29. The Marauders and the Golden Eagles are tied for sixth place in the NSIC. UMary then hosts the University of Minnesota Duluth on Friday and Saturday, May 2-3. The Bulldogs are one game behind the Marauders, Golden Eagles and Mustangs in the NSIC with 17 wins.
