CLERMONT, FL – The University of Mary softball team (6-13) went 0-2 on day two of their spring games. UMary fell 9-1 to Saint Anselm College and 4-3 to the College of Staten Island.
The Marauders get ready for day three of their spring games in Clermont, FL, against the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown on Monday, March 2, at 8 am CT.

The Hawks opened the game with two runs in the top of the first inning.
Ariana Retuta made it a 2-1 ballgame in the bottom of the first when she smacked a single to left field, scoring
Sariah Perez.
Saint Anselm added one run in the second inning and three runs in both the fourth and fifth innings to take a 9-1 lead. UMary failed to score as the Hawks won 9-1 after five innings.
The Marauders recorded six hits and no walks, while the Hawks had nine hits and seven walks.
Elyssa Verploegen pitched three innings of relief and struck out four batters while giving up two earned runs.

UMary grabbed a 1-0 lead when
Sariah Perez smacked a double to right-center to score
Ariana Retuta in the top of the first inning. CSI tied the game up at 1-1 in the bottom of the first.
Emma Kimberling put the Marauders up 2-1 in the top of the second after she singled to short to bring home
Francesca Villaneda. The Dolphins responded in the second inning with a bases-clearing double to give CSI a 4-2 lead.
UMary got a run back in the top of the sixth inning when
Cassidy Bagnell stole second and
Madison Hunter came around to score on the throw. The Marauders failed to score in the seventh as they fell 4-3 to the Dolphins.
Hannah Chambers got the start as she pitched five innings and allowed four runs while striking out two batters.
UMary recorded ten hits and no walks. CSI posted nine hits and two walks.
