SIOUX FALLS, SD – A program-best five University of Mary wrestlers qualified for the NCAA Championships at the Super Regional V. Sean Solis, Luke Tweeton, Reece Barnhardt, Kaden Renner and Leo Mushinsky each earned the opportunity to compete for a national championship.

Nationals is scheduled to take place in Indianapolis, IN, on March 14-15. The Marauder's previous best was four wrestlers qualifying for nationals, which occurred in 2022 and 2023.

#3 Sean Solis won the 141-pound weight class at Regionals. Solis opened with a 24-8 technical fall victory over Dylan Louwagie (Southwest Minnesota State). He punched his ticket to nationals with a pinfall victory over Ryan Wehner (Upper Iowa). The Long Beach, CA, defeated Pedro Velazquez (Minnesota State Moorhead) by a 5-1 decision in the finals to take home gold.

#9 Luke Tweeton finished runner-up at 165 pounds. He kicked off his tournament with a dominant 16-1 tech fall victory over Evan Thompson (Southwest Minnesota State). The All-American followed up with a 2-1 decision victory over Joshua Gaye (Upper Iowa). Tweeton qualified for nationals after he grinded out a 1-0 decision against Liam Babitt (Minnesota State Moorhead) in the semifinals. He fell by a 9-3 decision to Jake Swirple (Minot State).

#1 Reece Barnhardt took third at 133 pounds. He showcased his skills in his opening match, pinning Owen Hansen (Augustana). He then defeated Chase Beckett (Minnesota State) by an 8-0 major decision. Barnhardt suffered an upset defeat in the semifinals when he was caught and pinned by Ryan Henningson (Minnesota State Moorhead). Barnhardt showed resiliency and bounced back to defeat Wayne Joint (Minot State) by a 12-1 major decision. The Bismarck, ND, native earned his fourth straight trip to nationals when he pinned Beckett in the third-place match.

Kaden Renner placed third at 157 pounds. He lost his first match over Ben Durocher (Wisconsin-Parkside) by an 8-3 decision. Renner came back to win a 12-4 major decision over Dalton Schams (Upper Iowa). He then defeated Sean Howk (Southwest Minnesota State) by a 14-2 major decision. Renner continued his great form by pinning Connor Simmonds (Augustana) in his next match. The Bismark, ND, native guaranteed himself a trip to nationals by avenging his first-round loss, defeating Ben Durocher (Wisconsin-Parkside) by an 11-5 decision in the third-place match.

Leo Mushinsky finished third at 165 pounds. Mushinsky won by pinfall in his first match against Caden Young (Southwest Minnesota State). He then took down Kole Marko (Minnesota State) by a 7-2 decision. Mushinsky fell by a 1-0 decision in a tight matchup against Nick Novak (St. Cloud State). He rebounded by defeating Payton Handevidt (Augustana) by a 9-6 decision. The Peoria, IL, native punched his ticket to nationals by defeating Marko in the third-place match by a 5-2 decision.

Matthew Kaylor finished fourth at 197 pounds. He opened with an 8-5 sudden victory against Geoffrey Freeman (Upper Iowa). Kaylor fell by a 9-1 major decision to Max Ramberg (Augustana (SD). Kaylor returned to the mats to defeat Cannon Potts (Minot State) by a 5-4 decision. The Bismarck, Nd, native gave up a late takedown to Chase Stegall (Wisconsin-Parkside) by a 5-4 decision in the third-place match.

Dante Roggio took fifth place at 184 pounds. He opened the tournament with a pinfall victory over Wyatt Powell (Minnesota State Moorhead). Roggio then grinded out a 5-3 decision over Colter Bye (Upper Iowa). He then lost his next two matches to Cade Mueller (Augustana) and Damen Pape (Northern State). The Kuna, ID, native won his fifth-place match over Bye via medical forfeit.

The Marauders finished fourth at the NCAA Super Regional V with 101 team points. St. Cloud State University won with 133.5 points.
