Marauders football announce 2025 National Signing Day commitments

BISMARCK, ND – University of Mary head football coach Shann Schillinger announced the Marauders 2025 National Signing Day commitments featuring a strong regional flavor of high school scholar-athletes mixed with a handful of experienced college competitors.
 
"We are really excited about this class," said Schillinger. "We put a very heavy emphasis on our home territory. The schools in the Bismarck/Mandan area have great coaches and play great football and we felt like we needed more of a hometown presence on our roster."
 
The Marauders initial signings include 15 freshmen, with 11 from North Dakota, three from Arizona and one from Wisconsin. Three transfers include two former NCAA Division I scholar-athletes from Utah State University plus the 2024 Northwest Conference Offensive Player of the Year who led his team to the second round of the NCAA Division III playoffs.
 
"A lot of credit goes to our staff," said Schillinger. "Our coaches have done a tremendous job in what is a different era of recruiting. Our staff is thorough on their evaluations and they do a great job making sure these kids are the right fit. We are looking forward to indoctrinating these guys into our culture and developing them to get the most of their playing career.
 
"We also would like to thank everyone around campus that took time to meet with our prospective scholar-athletes while they were on campus. Every one of these kids we signed stepped foot on our campus before signing and the fit felt right for them and their family."
 
Initial signings includes three quarterbacks, three wide receivers, one running back, two offensive linemen, three defensive linemen, three linebackers and three defensive backs.
 
Schillinger, a former NFL player with the Atlanta Falcons and Tennessee Titans entering his third season as the UMary head coach, and his staff will look to continue adding to the Marauders roster that returns 70 players from last fall.
 
"Now we're entering a stage where we will be looking to add a couple of transfers to our roster. We will look to bring in guys that fit our culture and style. We will also be signing more high school scholar-athletes as well. Recruiting is now a 24/7/365 deal."

Easton Bergrud (QB, 6-5, 210, Fr., Bismarck, ND / Legacy High School)
Team captain who led Bismarck (ND) Legacy High School to a 2024 playoff appearance as a senior in 2024… Passed for 1,338 and 10 TDs as a senior… set school record with 300 yards passing in single game… Multi-sport athlete who also plays basketball… A Honor Roll student… National Honor Society member… Son of Annie and Aanen Bergrud… Will major in Exercise Science at the University of Mary.
 
UMary Head Coach Shann Schillinger comments on Easton Bergrud: "Easton played for Chris Clements at Legacy High School, who was the team captain of the Marauders 1995 Hall of Fame team. Easton had to unfortunately sit out his junior year to a knee injury so that slowed down his recruitment. Easton's best days are ahead of him. He stands 6-5 and he's only 17 years old. The ball comes out of his hand nice. He is only going to get stronger, which will help him take more hits and also make more throws. With his size and athleticism, Easton can do a lot of things for our team.
 
 
Ryan Blair (QB, 6-0, 200, GR, Spokane, WA / Mead High School / Whitworth University)
A graduate transfer to UMary after earning 2024 Northwest Conference Offensive Player of the Year honors at NCAA Division III Whitworth University as a senior in 2024… 1st team All-NWC selection… 2-time NWC Offensive Player of the Week… 3rd team D3Football.com All-Region 6 selection… completed 268 of 394 passes for 3,254 yards with team-record 37 touchdowns and 5 interceptions… Led Pirates to 10-2 record and the second round of the NCAA Division III playoffs… Played nine games at Whitworth in 2023, completing 27 of 45 passes for 356 yards with 4 touchdowns and 1 interception... In 2022 at Whitworth played in six games before suffering a season-ending injury, completing 115 of 155 passes for 1191 yards with 9 touchdowns and 4 interceptions... UMary Head Coach Shann Schillinger comments on Ryan Blair: "Ryan was the player of the year in the NCAA Division III NWC (Northwest Conference) last season. He set a school record by throwing for 37 TDs last year and just 5 interceptions. He has good arm strength and we really like his ability to make quick decisions. QBs that throw on time usually have a good knack for reading defenses and we think Ryan has that ability. He's a mobile guy that can tuck it and run when needed. The more we watched him the more we were thought we can't turn this guy down. We look forward to bringing him in to compete in our QB room."
 
 
Logan Dockter (RB, 5-8, 170, Bismarck, ND / Bismarck High School)
WDA all-conference honorable mention as a senior at Bismarck (ND) High School in 2024… Scored 14 touchdowns as a senior with 973 yards rushing and over 1,000 all-purpose yards… scored over 30 career TDs… helped Demons to second round of playoffs in 2024 and the first round in 2023… played for head coach Mark Gibson at BHS… best sports moment was a 23 yard touchdown reception on 4th and 6 for the winning touchdown to send the Demons to the playoffs… earned Student of Highest Distinction honor at BHS… son of Angela and Jeremy Dockter… mother and cousin played volleyball at UMary… dad played baseball at Bismarck State… undecided on a major at the University of Mary.
 
UMary Head Coach Shann Schillinger comments on Logan Dockter: "Logan is a humble kid who is not scared to compete. It seemed whenever he was called on to make a play for his team he always answered. Logan has good quickness, catches the ball well, and has a knack of finding the end zone. He really had a great senior season. He has some familiarity with the University of Mary as his mom played volleyball for the Marauders."
 
 
Shively "Timo" Asoau Fua (OL, 6-5, 315, GR, San Francisco, CA / Mission High School / Chabot College / Utah State University)
Graduate transfer from NCAA Division I Utah State University… Played in all 13 games for the Aggies in 2023, primarily on special teams… Transferred to Utah State after starting all 14 games for Chabot (CA) College as a sophomore in 2022… Helped lead the Mission High School Bears to a California Interscholastic Federation state championship his senior season... Also played baseball and volleyball in high school… son of Fuamoli asoau.
 
UMary Head Coach Shann Schillinger comments on Shively "Timo" Asoau Fua: "Like Jett Solomon, Shively also was at Utah State. Shively is a guy Coach Ben Davis saw on the road while recruiting and caught Ben's attention. He is all of 6-5 and we see him being able to come and compete for a starting tackle role. Anytime you can add a guy on the line of scrimmage with Shively's size and experience your team benefits greatly."

Starting middle linebacker and fullback for Bismarck (ND) High School… helped the Demons reach the playoffs as a senior (2024)… posted 8 tackles for loss and 60 tackles (20 solo) total plus ran for 150 yards and 3 TDs on 30 carries in 2024… played for head coach Mark Gibson… best sports moment was "winning the opening game of senior season and knowing we had something special in our team"… Son of Jessica Gabriel… Majoring in Business Administration at the University of Mary.
 
UMary Head Coach Shann Schillinger comments on DJ Gabriel: "DJ is a kid that enjoys football. He's a coachable kid that plays hard. He was a 2-way starter on a really good team last year. DJ is physical and not scared of contact. We will start him out at LB but he could also play fullback for us in the future."

Defensive team leader at Bismarck (ND) High School as a senior in 2024… Posted 14 tackles for loss and 160 tackles (70 solo) to help Demons make the playoffs… best sport moment was beating cross-town rival Mandan in a close contest… played for head coach Mark Gibson… Son of Wayne and Jennifer Harvison… father wrestled and played football and mother played volleyball for the Marauders… father was 4-time All-American wrestler at UMary and member of Marauders Hall of Fame… plans to major in Business and Finance at the University of Mary.
 
UMary Head Coach Shann Schillinger comments on Colter Harvison: "Colter played on a really good team and led Bismarck in tackles last season. He had a great knack for finding the ball and always seemed to put up great production. He will benefit greatly from a year in the weight room. Like his brother, Colter is a second-generation Marauder. This program means a lot to Colter, and we look forward to watching him grow."
 
 
Conner Harvison (DB, 5-10, 180, Bismarck, ND / Bismarck High School)

UMary Head Coach Shann Schillinger comments on Conner Harvison: "Connor is smart, tough and loves playing football; maybe the most important traits a player needs. He's not afraid to come down and hit you from the safety position. He's what we are looking for in a lot of players - a kid that plays fearless. He is a second-generation Marauder as his dad was a 2-sport athlete (wrestling and football) and his mom was a standout track athlete for the Marauders. We are thrilled Connor is joining the Marauder family."
 
 
Evan Henderson (OL, 6-3, 290, Fr., Queen Creek AZ / Queen Creek High School)
All-Region second team selection as a senior at Queen Creek (AZ) High School… team captain and offensive lineman of the year… Played for head coach Travis Schureman… volunteers at local rodeo… Named to Principal's List… Son of Chris and Alesha Henderson… Grandfather played for Miami Dolphins and uncle played for University of Louisville and the Arizona Cardinals… Intends to pursue a Business degree at the University of Mary.
 
UMary Head Coach Shann Schillinger comments on Evan Henderson: "Evan is a kid who is still growing and improved drastically from his junior to his senior year. He comes from great stock. His dad is 6-6, his mom was a Division 1 track athlete at Northern Iowa, and his uncle and grandpa both played offensive line in the NFL. Evan has a bright future and we are really excited to see his growth and development as a player."
 
 
Kain Heustis (DB, 5-11, 185, Fr., Bismarck, ND / Bismarck High School)

UMary Head Coach Shann Schillinger comments on Kain Heustis: "We are really excited about Kain. I was kind of surprised more schools weren't on him. He hasn't played a ton of DB but I loved the way he could he could bend and transition in and out of breaks. He was very natural playing the ball in the air. This kid has a ton of upside and I'm excited to see his development." 
 
 
Colin Lucas (DL, 6-3, 295, Fr., Glendale, AZ / Moon Valley High School)
Two-time All-Region selection as an offensive lineman and once as a defensive lineman at Moon Valley High School in Phoenix, AZ… played football for head coach Santiago Maldonado… Won two wrestling  tournaments, placed in two others and qualified for the state tournament at 285… Multi-sport athlete who also competes in wrestling and track & field… Son of Joseph and Megan Lucas… Majoring in Construction Management at the University of Mary.
 
UMary Head Coach Shann Schillinger comments on Colin Lucas: "Colin was a 2-way player (OL/DL) in high school, which I really like. I also like that he is a really good heavyweight wrestler. He is tough and likes to compete. We will start him out on the interior defensive line and are excited to see how progresses. Colin has some family here in North Dakota and this campus really seemed to fit what he and his family were looking for."

When teams dropped back passed against him he always seemed to be able to disrupt the QB. He loves playing ball and I'm excited to watch his growth and development in the weight room. UMary Head Coach Shann Schillinger comments on Thomas Phillips: "Tommy is coming to us from playing 8-man football. He was asked to play a lot of different roles for his team and that really excited us as a staff. He has great get-off and plays with a motor. Like a lot of high school players Thomas has some things that he needs to work on, but it's a lot easier to improve when you have the twitch and explosiveness like Tommy does."

UMary Head Coach Shann Schillinger comments on Aeneas Redmond: "Aeneas is a smart kid who plans on majoring in Engineering. He was committed to a D2 powerhouse late in the process, so for us to snag him was a good get. His best trait might be his willingness to compete. Aeneas isn't scared to compete and get after it. He comes from a family that is very athletic. He has family members who have played major league baseball and in the NFL so his upside is high."

UMary Head Coach Shann Schillinger comments on Charles Richter: "Charles earned high praise from his head coach Toby Schweitzer, who is UMary football's all-time leading tackler. Charles has great size and athleticism. We loved that he played half the year with a cast on his arm, showing just how much he loves playing football. He wrestles so it shows he has some toughness and isn't scared to compete. He stands at about 6-3 and he truly could play almost any position in our defense. He's a kid that would really benefit from a redshirt year to just let him grow and see where we think he's best fit."

UMary Head Coach Shann Schillinger comments on Jensen Schulz: "Jensen is a great kid to be around. He received high praise from his head coach, Todd Sheldon, who was a player himself for this University. He topped Class AAA in yards and TDs amongst receivers. Jensen has great play-making skills and always seems to make big plays when needed. He has very natural ball skills. He showed us he could catch it in traffic but we also liked his willingness to block when asked to do so. Jensen is going to have a really good career here at UMary."
 
 
Hudsen Sheldon (QB, 6-2, 175, Fr., Mandan, ND / Mandan High School)
Two-time All-State football player at Mandan (ND) High School who will also play baseball at the University of Mary… 2024 Western Dakota Association (WDA) Senior Athlete of the Year after leading Mandan to the playoffs… team captain and team MVP senior year… completed 125-of-224 passes for 2,148 yards and 26 touchdowns and ran for 425 yards and 10 touchdowns as a senior… threw for 2,159 yards and 17 touchdowns and ran for 208 yards and 9 touchdowns as a junior in 2023… played football for his uncle Todd Sheldon at Mandan… 1st team all-state basketball player as a junior (2023-24)… Multi-sport athlete who also competes in baseball, basketball and track & field… Involved in Leadership Club and Furry Friends Rockin' Rescue… Son of Scott and Mandy Sheldon… both parents and uncle competed athletically at UMary… mother is a member of the Marauders Hall of Fame after stellar track career at UMary… Majoring in Sports and Leisure Management at the University of Mary.
 
UMary Head Coach Shann Schillinger comments on Hudsen Sheldon: "Wish more kids had Hudsen's approach. He's a 4-sport athlete. He doesn't buy into the theory of sports specialization that kids are sold on these days. He just goes and competes in the sport that is in front of him, and because he has that approach he is usually the best one on the field or the court. Hudsen is a talented thrower with a ton of upside who will continue to grow as a quarterback. He was sought after by many schools and for us to land him is a big-time get for our program."
 
 
Jett Solomon (DB, 6-1, 185, Jr., Las Vegas, NV / Desert Pines High School / Utah State University / Snow Community College)
Transfers to the University of Mary after playing two seasons at Snow Community College… Played eight games in 2024 for the Badgers, posting 13 tackles (7 solo) and breaking up 4 passes as Snow finished the season 9-2 overall… Played 10 games at Snow in 2023 and was credited with 20 tackles (7 solo). 1 tackle for loss, .5 sacks, 1 interception and 2 pass breakups as the Badgers went 9-3… Started collegiate career at NCAA Division I Utah State University in 2022 where he redshirted his freshman season… Earned Class 5A All-Southern Nevada first-team honors as a prep senior at Desert Pines High School in Las Vegas (NV) in 2021… As a senior, he recorded 36 tackles, 2.0 tackles for loss, 2 pass breakups and 1 interception… Had a season-high 11 tackles against Green Valley HS… Added 10 receptions for 145 yards and 3 TDs… son of Jarrett and Jaime Solomon.
 
UMary Head Coach Shann Schillinger comments on Jett Solomon: "This is a kid that I have had my eye on for two years now. He started his career out at Utah State and transferred to Snow C.C. I really liked his film coming out of Utah State and his Snow film validated our evaluation. Jett has good coverage skills, makes plays on the ball, and has a great knack for getting guys down in the open field. We think Jett's experience will really help our secondary."
 
 
James Wilson (WR, 6-0, 170, Fr., Bismarck, ND / Shiloh Christian High School)
Team MVP as a senior at Shiloh Christian High School in Bismarck, ND… Helped the Skyhawks reach the second round of the state playoffs in in 2024… Caught 19 passes for 383 yards and six touchdowns in ten games… Played football for head coach Funnon Barker at Shiloh Christian… multi-sport athlete who also competes in basketball and golf…  National Honor Society member… Son of Carri and Justin Wilson… Majoring in Radiologic Technology at the University of Mary.
 
UMary Head Coach Shann Schillinger comments on James Wilson: "James is a smooth receiver. Watching him live we thought the game came very naturally to him. He has good ball skills and deceptive length and speed. He has big time play-making ability and has had many catches of 40 yards or more. A year in the weight room will really benefit him. When he gets a little more size and strength he will be a force."
