The University of Mary men's basketball team remains on the road for week two of the 2025-26 season with a midweek visit to Chadron, NE, on Wednesday, November 19. The Marauders will take on the Eagles of Chadron State College in a non-conference game between UMary from the Northern Sun and CSC of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC). Game time in a matinee affair is 1 pm MT/2 pm CT at the Chicoine Center.

THE RECORDS
UMary is 0-2 this season after dropping a pair of games at the GAC/NSIC Challenge. The Marauders finished the 2024-25 season 5-26 overall and 3-19 in the NSIC… Chadron State is 0-2 this season after losing two games at West Texas A&M. The Eagles finished last year 15-14 overall and 11-9 in the RMAC.

OPPO RESEARCH
After finishing last season with a winning record, the Eagles have a new look this season. G Zach Smith, a reserve point guard last season, is the only returning letterwinner from last season on this year's roster. Chadron State added ten transfers and three freshmen for this season. Through two games Isaiah Randle leads the Eagles in scoring at 17.5 ppg. Randle, who also averages 7.6 rebounds/game, is 8-of-11 from the floor and 19-of-20 at the free throw line. Jadon Cool checks in at 13.0 ppg. Â

HISTORY LESSON
The Marauders and the Eagles have played twice since 2010. UMary picked up a 75-69 home win Nov. 20, 2010, and claimed a 73-72 win at Chadron State on Nov. 15, 2022, when Josh Turner hit a trey with two seconds left in the game.

LAST WEEKEND
A new look UMary squad saw 11 scholar-athletes make their Marauders debut at the GAC/NSIC Challenge in Bethany, OK, with 14 players taking to the court in each game…
Kelton Coleman scored 18 points, hit three treys and grabbed six rebounds in an 83-63 non-conference neutral site loss to Northwestern Oklahoma State University Rangers.
Andre Austin added 14 points and made 5-of-6 shots in the game.
Relja Nagulic had 10 rebounds and five points… In game two UMary shot 49.1% from the floor in a 94-76 loss to Oklahoma Baptist in another non-conference neutral site game. A dozen Marauders scored in the game with
Amare Jackson leading the way with 13 points. Coleman added 12 points and
Cayden Redfield had 11 with eight rebounds. Â Â

TIGHE MAKES REGULAR SEASON DEBUT
Darren Tighe (pronounced TIE) made his Marauders head coaching debut last weekend at the GAC/NSIC Challenge in Bethany, OK. However, running the show is not a new experience. In ten years as a college head coach Tighe has a record of 169-112. In three seasons at Ridgewater (MN) Community College (2014-17), he led the Warriors to a mark of 48-34 that included a 20 win season to break a 50 year old school record for victories... In five seasons at Mayville (ND) State University (2017-22), the Comets went 92-42, won a league title and advanced to three national tournaments. Twice he earned coach of the year honors. The first season with the Comets, Mayville State went from nine wins the previous year to 18 wins… Tighe coached the previous two years at Dakota (SD) State University. In his first season the Trojans won 17 games and posted their first winning season in eight seasons.

THANKSGIVING WEEK HOMECOMING
The Marauders make their home debut Thanksgiving week when UMary hosts Highway 83 rival Minot State University on Tuesday, November 25. Tip off from the McDowell Activity Center is set for 7:30 pm. UMary then hosts the Dakota Challenge on Friday and Saturday, November 28-29, with games against South Dakota Mines and Black Hills State. Minot State rounds out the four-team Border Battle bracket.

The University of Mary is hosting Minot State University, South Dakota Mines and Black Hills State University in the Dakota Challenge Battle for the Border Thanksgiving Weekend. The games feature Northern Sun members UMary and Minot State facing RMAC schools Black Hills State and SD Mines on Friday and Saturday, November 28-29.

FAMILIAR FACES
The Marauders return four players from 2024-25. Sr. G
Cayden Redfield is the leading returning scorer. Last year in his first season at UMary after transferring from United Tribes, Redfield averaged 4.7 ppg in 21 games. Three times he reached double digits, including 18 points against Minnesota State… Sophomore guard Tamerrein Henderson saw action in 27 games in his first collegiate season.
