SIOUX FALLS, SD – The University of Mary women's basketball team continues their best start to a season in the NCAA era as the Marauders defeated the University of Central Missouri 65-55.
UMary (4-0) shot 20-of-53 (38.5%) from the floor and 4-of-13 (30.8%) from behind the arc, while UCM (0-1) went 21-of-61 (34.4%) from the field and 5-of-19 (26.3%) from three.
The Marauders shot 21-of-24 (87.5%) from the free-throw line, while the Jennies went 8-of-10 (80%) from the charity stripe. UMary outrebounded UCM 39-35.
Bergan Kinnebrew led the Marauders in scoring with 22 points, shooting 2-of-4 from three and 10-of-12 from the free throw line. Kinnebrew also added five rebounds and three steals.
Allison Undlin posted a double-double as she had 17 points and ten rebounds. Undlin shot 7-of-11 from the field and blocked three shots.
Anna Lenzen scored a season-best 11 points.
Cassie Erickson recorded six points and five assists off the bench.
Chloe Pfau had seven rebounds and two assists.
UMary came out firing and took a 20-12 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Marauders offense struggled in the second quarter as the Jennies cut the lead to 30-26 going into halftime.
UMC took a 34-34 lead with 6:14 remaining in the third quarter. UMary would respond with a 17-4 run to end the quarter, eight of which were scored by
Allison Undlin. The Marauders were able to close out the fourth quarter from the free-throw line as UMary shot a perfect 14-of-14 from the charity stripe to win the game.
The Marauders stay in Sioux Falls, SD, to challenge Missouri Southern State University on Saturday, November 15, at 6 pm.
