Kinnebrew named Player to Watch, Marauders projected to finish 6th in NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll

BURNSVILLE, MN – After being named to the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference First Team last season, Bergan Kinnebrew was announced as the University of Mary women's basketball Player to Watch for the 2025-26 season.

Last year, Kinnebrew led the team in scoring, averaging 15.5 points per game. The Bismarck, ND, native shot 38.8% from the field, 35.2% from three and 84.4% from the free throw line. The junior ranked 9th in the conference in scoring, 2nd in free throw percentage, 16th in three pointers made per game and 23rd in steals per game.

"Bergan is coming off a sophomore year where she was First Team All-NSIC. We expect her to take a jump in her leadership both on and off the court as an upperclassman," said head coach Rick Neumann. "Bergan has worked tremendously hard this offseason and will be asked to do even more for our team. We are really excited to see her compete this year with increased attention from opponents."

The NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll projected the Marauders to finish 6th in the conference this season and 2nd in the NSIC North. Last season, UMary finished sixth in the NSIC during the regular season and was knocked out in the quarterfinals of the conference tournament.

"Our team is fast and athletic. We return three starting guards who are very talented, and we will lean heavily on their experience while we develop complementary pieces. It's always exciting at the beginning of the season, but our expectations are to compete for a North division title," Neumann said.

The Marauders have eight players returning from last year's team. Cassie Erickson returns as the lone senior on the roster. Kinnebrew, Chloe Pfau, Emily Jaenke, Allison Undlin and Anna Lenzen will have important roles as three-year players. Sophomores Eden Fridley and Brenna Dick look to show growth after their freshman campaigns.

UMary brings in six freshmen for this season. Mashae Miller, Chloe Netzinger, Senna Mooijekind, Chloe Nuss, Grace Richardson and Tory Jennissen will aim to have an immediate impact to begin their collegiate careers.
