Christensen promoted to Women's Soccer Associate Head Coach

BISMARCK, ND – Logan Christensen, an integral part of six straight post-season appearances by the University of Mary women's soccer team, was elevated to the position of Associate Head Coach for the Marauders.

The native of Minot, ND, and former Marauders men's soccer scholar-athlete joined the UMary women's soccer coaching staff in 2018. The one-time graduate assistant became the program's first full-time assistant in 2022. During Christensen's coaching tenure at UMary, the Marauders own a winning record each season in Northern Sun play and have yet to post a losing mark in any year.

"In seven seasons with the UMary Soccer program, Logan has worked his way his way up from our graduate assistant coach to now the Associate Head Coach," said UMary Head Women's Soccer Coach Sarah Cook. "He is dedicated, loyal, and has an excellent understanding of the game of soccer. Logan is also a virtuous leader who knows how to recruit the right scholar-athletes to our program, enabling us to continue the success of UMary Women's Soccer on and off the pitch."

Currently the acting head coach for Marauders soccer, Christensen is managing the operations and recruiting of the team while Coach Cook continues her maternity leave.

"I am incredibly honored and excited to step into the role of Associate Head Coach for the University of Mary Women's Soccer team," said Christensen. "Since joining the program in 2018, I have had the privilege of working with an amazing group of athletes and staff who inspire me every day. I'm grateful for the opportunity to continue contributing to the growth and success of this program, and I look forward to helping take our team to even greater heights in the seasons to come."

Over the last seven seasons with Christensen on the coach staff, UMary owns an overall record of 61-38-20 with a Northern Sun mark of 46-27-15. In the last two years the Marauders advanced to the NSIC tournament championship in 2023 and the conference semifinals in 2024.

Christensen has long ties to the Marauders soccer community. He competed for the Marauders men's soccer team from 2010-15 under the direction of head coach Dave Cook. His sister Emily played for the Marauders (2012-15). In 2015 Christensen earned a bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Marketing before receiving his M.S. in Physical Education and Sports Administration in 2020, both from the University of Mary.

Owning strong connections to youth soccer in North Dakota, Christensen has coached a variety of levels and programs, from coaching the Magic Soccer F.C. to serving as the head girl's soccer coach at Bismarck Legacy High School with involvement in the Boy's and Girl's programs for Dakota ODP (Olympic Development Program) and regionally for Midwest ODP.

Christensen holds his USSF (United States Soccer Federation) "B" License, United Soccer Coaches Association National Diploma, United Soccer Coaches Association Advanced National Diploma, and a United Soccer Association Level 1 Goalkeeper License.
