Box Score BILLINGS, MT – The University of Mary was unable to turn an advantage on the scoresheet into a win on the pitch, dropping a 1-0 decision at MSU Billings in the 2024 season opener.
The Marauders held a 24-17 edge in shots and took five corner kicks to zero for the Yellow Jackets but couldn't find the back of the net. MSUB took 14 penalties to nine for UMary. The home team was also called twice for offside.
Neither team scored in an evenly played opening first half.
The Marauders turned up the pressure in the second half, launching 15 shots to eight for the Yellowjackets while taking all four corner kicks. Despite the onslaught, it was MSU Billings that scored the lone goal.
Taking a through ball from Erika Wilson, Jamie Maas scored into the low right corner of the net in the 70yj minute to give the home side the only goal they needed for a win on the opening day of the Rimrock Classic.
UMary challenged to find the equalizer, ripping off eight shots in the final 20 minutes. In the closing moments, Olivia Garder just missed tying the game as her deflection of a crossing attempt was redirected towards the right side of the net but saved out of play by the Yellowjackets defense. Awarded one final corner kick, time ran out on the Marauders as the ball was put back into play.

Rachel Gensch posted six shots with three on frame.
Molly Fischer finished with six saves for UMary.
The Marauders wrap up the Rimrock Classic on Saturday, September 7, when UMary faces Black Hills State University in a neutral site non-conference match.
