MANDAN, ND – Playing in front of University of Mary hockey alumni that were part of two national championships, the current Marauders squad made sure to put on a show, overwhelming Williston State College 9-1. UMary held a massive 90-7 edge in shots over WSC as the Marauders dominated both ends of the rink.
Prior to the game, former UMary skaters from the program's American College Hockey Association Men's Division 2 era held an alumni contest which included skaters from the Marauders first team in 2018-19 through last season. UMary won back to back ACHA M2 titles in 2021 and 2022. The Marauders made the move to ACHA MD1 for the 2023-24 season.
Ranked 11
th nationally in ACHA MD1, the Marauders scored more goals (9) than the total number of shots UMary allowed (7) to the ACHA MD2 Tetons.
Crae Dawson sparked the Marauders to a strong opening period, scoring twice. His second goal with 14 seconds remaining before the first intermission sent UMary into the break leading 3-0.
UMary broke the game wide open in the second with five goals.
Alex Senf led second period effort as he scored two of the Marauders four power play goals.
Both teams scored single goals in the third period.
Senf and Dawson paced the Marauders attack with two goals apiece on a night seven Marauders found the back of the net. Dawson also chipped in an assist for a 3-point night.
Derek Dropik contributed a power play goal and distributed three helpers for four points.
Lucas Medeiros and Hunter Mangen each had a goal and an assist.
Dylan Cunningham and
Joe Gronholz both added three assists each and Jacob Murray dished out two.
UMary (3-0) next takes its first road trip of the season when the Marauders visit Illinois State University on September 27-28.
