ST. JOSEPH, MN – A three-run homer by
Hannah Chambers helped lead the University of Mary softball team to a split in their final games of the season against St. Cloud State University. The Marauders dropped game one 7-3 before coming back and defeating the Huskies 7-2 in game two.
UMary (10-37, 3-23 Northern Sun) finishes the season with double-digit wins for the first time since 2020.
GAME 2 |UMary – 7, SCSU – 2
Hannah Chambers gave the Marauders a 3-0 lead in the top of the second inning when she smashed a three-run home run to center field.
Ariana Retuta added to the UMary lead when she singled to bring home
Sariah Perez.
Jaraya Diaz came up with the bases loaded and one out in the top of the third inning. Diaz smashed a double to center field to give the Marauders a 7-0 lead. SCSU picked up a run in the third and fifth innings to make it a 7-2 ballgame.
Arria Johnson came on in the sixth inning and pitched two clean innings as she allowed zero runs and no hits to give the Marauders their tenth victory on the season.
Nicole Eckhardt picked up her third on the season. Eckhardt pitched five innings and struck out three batters while allowing only two runs.

Schommer smacked a double to left field in the fifth inning to bring home

Kelsey Mischel cut the SCSU lead to 7-3 in the sixth inning when she singled to right field, scoring
Ariana Retuta. The Marauders failed to add more runs as SCSU secured the 7-3 victory.
Emari Evans pitched a gem in relief for the Marauders. Evans went 5.2 innings and allowed no earned runs while striking out three batters.
