MINOT, ND – A clutch tie-breaking 2-run home run by
Dylan Edmands in the 8
th inning followed by another dominant relief appearance from
Mark Schommer delivered an 8-6 win for the University of Mary at Minot State University. The victory earned the Marauders a split of the Northern Sun doubleheader after the Beavers opened the day with an 18-4 win.

Minot State (12-24 overall, 9-17 NSIC) put UMary (15-20, 11-14) in a deep hole with a 7-run 1
st inning and the Marauders could never recover.
Dylan Edmands singled home a run in the 2
nd inning but UMary's chance to cut further into the Beavers lead fell by the wayside when the Marauders left the bases loaded. The Beavers responded with three more in the bottom of the 2
nd for an insurmountable 10-1 lead.
Noah Hull had a pair of hits for UMary.
Carter Beck doubled, drove in two runs and scored once for UMary. Danial Martin was hit by a pitch three times.
Seungjun Song drove in six runs for Minot State, hitting a double and a home run.

In a game that featured four lead changes, including three in the last four innings, a
Dylan Edmands 2-run home run in the 8
th inning propelled the Marauders to an 8-6 win to earn a split on the day.
After Minot State opened the scoring in the 3
rd inning with a single run, the Marauders scored four times in the top of the 4
th.
Ben Prediger doubled home a pair of runs to give the Marauders a lead before
Carter Shin and Edmands singles home runs for a 4-1 UMary advantage.
Minot State responded with a single run in the bottom of the 4
th inning before taking a 5-4 lead on a 3-run home run by Mark Ossana in the 5
th.
The Marauders retook the lead with a 2-run double by Martin in the 6
th to move out front 6-5 before the Beavers pulled even with a solo run in the 7
th inning.
With the end of the game fast approaching, the Marauders clawed back in front in the 8
th. With Shin in scoring position after leading off the inning with a walk and stealing second base, Edmands came to bat with one out and drove a pitch over the fence in left center to again propel the Marauders back into the lead.
Mark Schommer then took the ball and looked to slam the door in the bottom of the 8
th inning but a leadoff single and a UMary error placed two runners on base. After a sacrifice bunt moved both runners into scoring position, Schommer struck out the next two Beavers to end the threat. The senior closer then retired the home team in order in the 9
th, including striking out the last two hitters of the game.
Schommer pitched two scoreless innings to pick up his 3
rd save. He struck out four and allowed just one hit and no walks. For the year Schommer has given up just one run and eight hits in 15.1 innings, striking out 22 batters and walking just one.
Kevin Millar was solid in his first start for the Marauders, allowing three earned runs in 4.2 innings.
Kaden Moriarty tossed 1.1 innings of scoreless relief.
Kayden Beauregard gave up one unearned run in one inning and earned the win.
Edmands finished 2-for-3 with a home run, three RBIs and a run scored. Prediger had a double among his two hits, scored twice and drove in two runs. Shin scored three times, had two hits and one RBI.
Noah Hull added two hits.
The Marauders next open an 8-game home stand when UMary hosts the University of Sioux Falls for a 3-game set on Saturday and Sunday, April 20-21. Saturday's doubleheader starts at 12 noon and the day features entertainment throughout game two from the Bismarck Larks. Sunday's single game starts at 12 noon.
