Polson, Hull power Marauders past Mountain Lions 16-13

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – A powerful University of Mary attack scored 11 straight runs to rally the Marauders baseball team past homestanding University of Colorado Colorado Springs 16-13 in non-conference action. Noah Hull led the UMary attack with two of the team's four home runs in the game and Michael Polson had four extra base hits.
 
In a slugfest that featured four lead changes, 28 hits, six home runs, and 13 extra base hits, the Marauders trailed 10-5 after five innings.
 
UMary posted five runs in the sixth to pull the Marauders even for the second time in the game. A Kalem Haney scored the first run of the inning before a UCCS throwing error on a Krece Papierski ground ball scored two more. Polson then doubled down the right field line to drive in two and pull the Marauders even at 10-10.
 
After a scoreless seventh inning, UMary (4-5 overall) erupted for six in the eighth. Dylan Edmands singled home the first run before a second run scored on a throwing error by the UCCS catcher. Carter Shin scored a run on a ground out before Carter Beck launched an opposite field 3-run home run over the left field fence.
 
The Mountain Lions (3-13 overall) made a late charge with three runs in the 9th inning and the tying run at the plate.
 
Polson finished with four hits in the game, three doubles and a triple. He scored twice and drove in two runs.
 
Hull was 3-for-6 with two home runs, three runs scored and two RBIs.
 
Haney finished 3-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and two RBIs. He also had two walks.
 
Beck scored twice, drove in three runs, homered and had two walks.
 
Danial Martin had a 2-run home run.
 
Edmands was 2-for-6 with two runs scored and one driven in.
 
Cru Walker scored twice, had a hit and drew two walks.
 
Ryan Chamberlain threw six innings for UMary, striking out four. Jared Arnold allowed one earned run in two innings to earn the win. Kayden Beauregard tossed the final inning, striking out two and allowing one unearned run.
 
The Marauders continue their 5-game swing through the Centennial State with a pair of games at Colorado Christian University on Friday, March 1.
