Deep ball sinks Marauders in 66-50 road loss to Huskies

ST. CLOUD, MN – On a night where points were hard to find, visiting University of Mary dropped a 66-50 decision to St. Cloud State University in Northern Sun men's basketball. The 66 points was the second-fewest the Marauders have allowed in a game this season.

UMary's (4-10 overall, 2-3 NSIC) season-low for points allowed is 60 in a win at South Dakota Mines. The 66 points is the second-fewest SCSU (7-6, 3-2) has scored this season.

Gunner Swanson came off the bench to deliver a team-high 11 points for the Marauders. The junior guard hit three treys in the game, all in the first half. His 3rd trey came at the buzzer to end the first half, closing the Marauders within 34-30 at intermission after UMary trailed by as many as 13 points.

Behind a barrage of treys, the Huskies opened the second half on a 17-2 run that featured five 3-pointers to claim an insurmountable 51-32 lead. SCSU finished the game 12-for-22 on 3-pointers and shot 51.1% from the floor overall.

Ty Rogers also scored 11 points for UMary, going 3-for-5 from the floor while making all four of his free throws. Jeremiah Jones added six points and a team-best six rebounds.

Lucas Morgan hit all five of his 3-point attempts for SCSU on his way to a game-high 17 points. Luke Winkel scored 15 off the bench while making 3-of-4 treys.

The Marauders next host Bemidji State University on Saturday, December 21, in the final game of December. Game time is 3:30 pm at the McDowell Activity Center. Purchase tickets online at www.UMaryTickets.com.
