#14 Marauders drop defensive tilt to #5 UNLV 2-0

ROMEOVILLE, IL – In a defensive grind between a pair of nationally-ranked squads, #14 University of Mary limited #5 University of Nevada-Las Vegas to just a pair of goals in the first-ever meeting between the two programs. The Marauders were unable to dent the Skatin' Rebels defense though,  as UNLV claimed a 2-0 win over UMary at the ACHA Chicago Classic.  
 
The Marauders, who opened the Chicago Classic with a 3-2 win over the University of Michigan-Dearborn on Friday, slips to 12-5-0-0-0-0 (W-L-OTL-T-SOW-SOL) overall. UNLV is 12-3-0-0-0-0.
 
UNLV found the net late in the first period when Bradley Golant tallied with only 2:22 left until the opening intermission of the game. The Skatin' Rebels secured the win with a goal at 7:27 of the second period.
 
Marino Ramirez was solid in net for the Marauders, finishing the game with 26 saves. Jeremy Foreman of UNLV turned aside all 18 shots by UMary.
 
In a relatively penalty-free game, UNLV was whistled three times for six minutes while UMary committed two infractions for four minutes. The Marauders was 0-for-2 on the power play while the Skatin' Rebels did not score on their one opportunity.
 
The Marauders wrap up three games in three days against the University of Rhode Island at 1:40 pm on Sunday, November 24, at the Canlan Arena in Romeoville, IL.
