ROMEOVILLE, IL – Jumping out to a lead with a pair of goals in the second period, #14 University of Mary held off a late charge by the University of Michigan-Dearborn to claim a 3-2 win on day one of three for the Marauders at the Chicago Classic.
 
The Marauders improve to 12-4-0-0-0-0 (W-L-OTL-T-SOW-SOL) overall. Michigan-Dearborn is 8-6-0-0-0-1.
 
After a scoreless opening period in the first meeting between the Marauders and the Wolverines, UMary struck first when Liam Massie scored a shorthanded goal at 8:16 of the second stanza. Alex Senf doubled the Marauders lead with just 36 seconds remaining before the second intermission to send UMary into the final break leading 2-0.
 
The Wolverines cut the Marauders advantage to 2-1 at 8:43 of the third period on a Dawson Nelson goal. Palmer Sinclair finally gave the Marauders some breathing room when he tallied unassisted with only1:37 remaining on the clock. UMD added some drama with the clock winding down, closing the gap to 3-2 with 12 seconds left in the game.  
 
Neither team was able to score with a man advantage. The Marauders were 0-for-5 on the power play while the Wolverines went 0-for-4.
 
The Marauders next face #5 University of Nevada-Las Vegas on Saturday, November 23. Game time is 10:40 am.
