MANDAN, ND – A four-goal outburst in both the first and the third periods propelled the #11 University of Mary to a 9-2 homecoming weekend victory over visiting Northern Illinois University in Midwest College Hockey play.
The Marauders improve to 6-1-0-0-0 overall and 3-0-0-0-0 in Midwest College Hockey league action. The Huskies slip to 2-5-0-0-0 overall and 0-3-0-0-0 against MCH competition.
Liam Massie led the way with a pair of goals for UMary. Seven other Marauders also found the net against fellow MCH foe Northern Illinois as UMary tied their season-high for goals.
Luke Schleusner started a three-goal flurry that took less than four minutes when he found the net at the 8:48 mark. Fifty seconds later
Liam Massie scored to double the UMary lead to 2-0.
Crae Dawson closed out the run when he scored at 12:28.
Alex Senf followed with a goal with 2:03 remaining in the period to send the Marauders into intermission with a 4-0 advantage.
A couple Huskies goals in the first nine minutes of the second period slashed the Marauders lead in half. Massie slowed the Huskies roll when he beat the NIU goalkeeper for the second time in the game at 12:15 and a 5-3 lead after two sessions.
The Marauders charge continued in the third as UMary torched Northern Illinois for another four goals.

Nick Bradshaw all had a goal and two assists for a 3-point night.
David Loahr,
Matt Scribner and
Dylan Cunningham each had two assists. Overall 14 Marauders had either a goal or an assist.
Making his Marauders debut,
Zane Clausen was strong in net as he turned away 25 of the 27 shots he faced in the game.
UMary held a 48-27 advantage in shots and both teams finished 1-for-3 on the power play.
The Marauders wrap up their homecoming weekend series with the Huskies at 2 pm on Sunday, October 6, at the Starion Sports Complex Schwan Cadillac Rink.
