Christopher Federico and two more tackles behind the line for
Mason Phillips, a big second quarter for the home squad carried the Warriors past the Marauders 48-7 in Northern Sun play.
One week after posting 13 tackles against Concordia-St. Paul in double overtime, Federico made seven solo and seven assisted tackles against Winona State. The sophomore linebacker entered the game 10
th in the nation in solo tackles.
Phillips registered a pair of stops behind the line, including one sack. The junior linebacker now owns 4.5 sacks this season and 7.0 tackles for loss. Phillips has 14 career sacks.
After gaining a 10-0 lead after the first period, the Warriors tacked on 28 points in the second quarter to enter halftime with a 38-0 lead.
The Marauders scored early in the fourth quarter when Jordan Polo-Solomon found
Maxwell Larson in the back of the end zone for a 2 yard scoring pass to cap a 10-play 75 yard drive.
Andrew Trandahl led the Marauders (1-6 overall, 0-6 NSIC) offense with 56 yards rushing, including a career-long run of 61 yards. Polo-Solomon came off the bench to pass for 120 yards.
UMary lost their first fumble of the season in the fourth quarter. The Marauders were one of the last nine teams to lose a fumble.
Jackson Flottmeyer led the WSU (3-3 overall, 3-2 NSIC) attack, running for 72 yards and two TDs and passing for 227 yards and three TDs. Sylvere Campbell caught four passes for 118 yards and two scores.
