BISMARCK, ND –
Zyon Smith led nine players in the scoring column for the University of Mary but the Marauders were unable to keep pace with Augustana University. Playing at home for the first time in over three weeks, the Marauders fell behind early in an 83-50 loss to the visiting Vikings and were unable to catch up.
Smith posted 12 points to pace the Marauders. It was the 11
th time he has reached double figures in points. Additionally Smith led UMary in rebounds with six.
Alex Mattes and
Rich Ashu came off the bench to score six points each. Mattes drained a pair of treys in the game. Ashu, one of the leaders in blocks in the NSIC, had one block and added five rebounds. Overall the Marauders reserves combined for 20 points.
Caden Hinker led the Vikings with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Jaden Graves added 11 points and Sam Rensch 10.
The Marauders (6-9 overall, 1-8 NSIC) wrap up the home weekend with a visit from Wayne State College on Saturday, January 13. Tip off is set for 3:30 pm at the McDowell Activity Center.
