BISMARCK, ND - Just one week after their season opener in Aberdeen, SD, the University of Mary Swimming & Diving team is quickly diving back into competition on September 30. The Marauders will venture to the University of Jamestown this Saturday morning at 11 a.m. for a dual meet against the Jimmies.
LAST TIME OUT
The Marauders are coming off an opening weekend where they finished with five first-place finishes and many other solid performances individually. Hosted by Northern State, the Marauders finished 3rd of 4 and took gold in three relay races last Friday night. Last Saturday consisted of the individual races where the Marauders were closely edged by Northern State 88-105 and Concordia - St. Paul 92.5-117.5 in head-to-head scoring.
SWIMMERS TO WATCH
Victoria Murillo led the pack with an impressive showing last weekend. The returning All-American won the 200 free (1:56.51) and the 500 free (5:16.74), and was part of each of the winning relay teams in the 3x100 butterfly, 500 free, and 400 free relay.
Camille Merimee was part of the first-place 500 free and 400 free relay teams in Aberdeen, and also finished third in 50 free with a time of 26.03 seconds.
Jordn Wolsky was the opening leg of the Marauders winning 3x100 butterfly relay, and also took second in the 200 IM (2:17.63) and third in the 100 backstroke (1:02.54).
Michaela Desmond started her Sophomore year off strong with gold in the 500 free relay and runner-up finishes in the 100 free (57.61) and 200 medley relay.
Madeline Desmond helped the Marauders finish first in the 400 free relay and took second in the 100 butterfly (1:01.14) in her collegiate debut.
HISTORY
The UMary Swimming & Diving team is 4-0 historically against Jamestown in dual competition since 2021-22. The Marauders took three meets over the Jimmies last season at home 169-110, at Jamestown 162-121, and neutrally at Moorhead, MN 146-62.
