MANKATO, MN – Facing the second of two national powers over the course of three days, the University of Mary fell 3-1 to #20 University of Central Missouri in the Marauders final non-conference game of the season.
The Marauders (1-2-1) next open Northern Sun play with a game on the road and at home next weekend. UMary plays at Minot State University at 6 pm on Friday, Sept. 15, before hosting MSU Moorhead in the Youth Soccer Appreciation Game on Sunday, Sept. 17, at 1 pm.

MaLiah Burke scored the Marauders lone goal of the contest to break up the hopes for a clean sheet by the Jennies.
The Jennies opened the scoring in the 11
th minute when Mikayla Ernst posted her third goal of the season, the first of three unassisted tallies for Central Missouri. They scored again in the 41
st minute to take a 2-0 lead into intermission. A third goal in the 53
rd minute sealed the Jennies win.
Continuing to press for a goal, the Marauders finally broke through in the 89
th minute. Chasing down a loose ball to the right of the penalty area, freshman
Payton Kooiman evaded a Jennies defender and placed a perfect pass at the feet of Burke. After a quick touch, Burke fired a low shot diagonally from outside the top right of the goal box into the low left corner of the net with 1:57 to play.
It was Burke's first goal of the season and the second of her career. For Kooiman it was her first collegiate assist.
The Jennies held the edge in shots (20-9), shots on frame (9-3) and corner kicks (8-3). Central Missouri also committed more fouls (9-6).
Burke led the Marauders in shots (3) and shots on goal (2).
