MINOT, ND – In his first season at the University of Mary,
Gerald Gittens continues to produce offensively for the Marauders. The junior guard fired home 19 points for UMary in the Marauders 88-65 loss at Minot State University in Northern Sun play.
Gittens had a golden day from behind the arc, missing just once in his six 3-point attempts. He was 7-for- 12 overall and added four rebounds, two assists and two steals. The 19 points is his second-highest total of the season. UMary's leading scorer on the season has reached double digits in 8-of-9 games this season.
Brock Heffner was the other UMary player to reach double figures in scoring, posting 12 points. The UMary forward was 4-for-8 overall and 4-for-5 at the line.
Xavier Lewis had a team-high seven rebounds and added seven points.
Marquel Saleek chipped in seven points off the bench. Additionally
Alex Mattes,
Ty Rogers and
Nick Harrell each had five points as UMary's bench scored 22 points.
A hot-shooting Beavers team gained control in the first half of the game, making 55.8% of their shots to just 35.7% for the Marauders. For the game MSU made 55.7% of its field goal attempts to 44.2% for UMary. Minot State had a 36-26 edge in rebounds.
Khari Broadway led the Beavers with 23 points. Caleb Van De Griend had 17 points and 11 rebounds off the bench.
The Marauders return home to host St. Cloud State University on Tuesday, December 12. Tip off is 4 pm at the McDowell Activity Center.
