#5 Marauders tripped up by #4 Jimmies in weekend opener

JAMESTOWN, ND – Seth Cushing and Tanner Eskro both posted a goal and an assist in the first American Collegiate Hockey Association Men's Division 1 and Midwest College Hockey meeting between #5 University of Mary and #4 University of Jamestown. The Jimmies captured the opening game of a home-and-home weekend series against the visiting Marauders 8-2.

The weekend series reverts to the Marauders home rink on Saturday, December 2, for UMary's 5th annual Teddy Bear Toss game. The puck drops at 7 pm at the Starion Sports Complex Schwan Cadillac Rink.

Fans are encouraged to bring new teddy bears and other stuffed animals to the game as a donation to benefit local children. When the Marauders score their first goal of the contest, fans will immediately throw their teddy bears onto the ice. All stuffed animals will then be collected and donated to local children just in time for the holidays as a part of the Community Action Program's Backpack for Kids.

Additionally fans can purchase the specially-designed Teddy Bear game-worn jersey the Marauders will wear during Saturday's game. All proceeds will support the BFKP program. You can make a bid during Saturday's game (minimum $120).

The Marauders are 11-4-0-0-1 (W-L-OTL-SOW-SOL) overall and 7-1-0-0-1 in MCH play. The Jimmies are 13-3-0-1-0 overall and 11-1-0-1-0 in MCH action.

Scoreless until the midpoint of the first period, the Jimmies entered the first intermission leading 4-0.

Cushing scored his team-leading 14th goal 3:36 into the second period off a feed from Eskro to close the gap to 4-1. The Jimmies scored three more times – two in the second and one in the third – before UMary scored again, this time off the stick of Eskro with assists to Cushing and goaltender Kyle Hayden.

Conan Hayon and Hayden combined to make 60 saves for the Marauders. Brandon Weare stopped 26 of the 28 shots he faced for the Jimmies.

Jordan Baranesky and Reid Wilson both had two goals for Jamestown.
