Schneider cracks 1,000 career points as Marauders fall to #16 MSU Billings

BILLINGS, MT – After missing all last season due to injury, University of Mary women's basketball post Lexi Schneider has returned with a vengeance. For the second straight game the senior scored 23 points against a nationally ranked team. While Schneider, who went over 1,000 career points in the game, had the same individual result, the Marauders came up short in a 77-51 loss to #16 MSU Billings.

The Marauders opened the D2CCA Women's Basketball Tip Off Classic at the Trailhead with an 81-67 win over #19 Angelo State University on Friday.

After making most of her hay at the free throw line against the Rambelles, Schneider drained 10-of-14 shots from the floor against the Yellowjackets. She was 3-for-4 at the free throw line. Schneider also had six rebounds and two assists.

Ashton Kinnebrew had another strong performance off the bench. The junior guard scored nine points for UMary after posting 11 in her UMary debut on Friday. Her sister, freshman guard Bergan Kinnesbrew, added six points.

Mariah McKeever had seven points, four assists and three rebounds.

Kola Bad Bear led MSUB with 17 points, one of five Yellowjackets in double figures.

UMary struggled from the field against the tournament host, shooting 31% from the floor and finishing 3-of-13 from the arc. UMary was 11-for-22 on treys on Friday.

The Marauders face a 3rd straight nationally-ranked team on Sunday, November 5, when UMary plays #24 Texas Women's College. TWC opened the tournament with wins over the Yellowjackets and #2 Minnesota State. Game time is 6:30 pm Central / 5:30 pm mountain time.
