O'FALLON, IL – Featuring five goals from five different skaters, #5 University of Mary rolled past McKendree University 5-0 to complete a weekend sweep. The Marauders scored the final nine goals of the weekend against the Bearcats and have now won seven straight Midwest College Hockey games.
The Marauders improve to 10-3-0-0-1 (W-L-OTL-SOW-SOL) overall and 7-0-0-0-1 in MCH play. The only blemish on the MCH mark was a shootout loss in the first game of the season. The Bearcats are 6-9-0-0-0 overall and 5-5 in MCH action.
Luke Schleusner opened the scoring with his second goal of the weekend at the 16:39 mark of the first period, giving the native of Mountain Lake Terrace, WA, the game-winning goal in both victories over the Bearcats. Less than two minutes later
Tanner Eskro tallied to send the Marauders into the first intermission leading 2-0.
The Marauders doubled their lead by the end of the second period on goals by
Michael Heitkamp and
Seth Cushing.
Nick Bradshaw closed the scoring with an unassisted goal in the third period.
Kyle Hayden backstopped the win for the Marauders, stopping all 42 shots that he faced in the game.
One night after posting two goals and two assists, Cushing finished game two with a goal and an assist, giving him a hand in six of the Marauders ten goals on the weekend.
Cyril Nagurski was credited with a pair of assists.
The Marauders next compete at Dakota College on Tuesday, November 21, in Bottineau, ND. Game time is 7:30 pm.
