The University of Mary women's soccer team wraps up their 2023 regular season home schedule this weekend with a pair of Northern Sun contests. The Marauders open a big weekend with a visit from Concordia-St. Paul at 7 pm on Friday, October 20, at the MDU Resources Community Bowl in the UMary Senior Recognition Game.

The site changes to the Sanford Sports Complex on Sunday, October 22, for the Family Weekend match against Winona State University. Kickoff is set for 1 pm. (PLEASE NOTE LOCATION CHANGE)

LOCATION CHANGE FOR OCTOBER 22 UMARY MEETING WITH WINONA STATE
The Marauders play Winona State October 22 in UMary's second of two home games this season at the Sanford Sports Complex, which is adjacent to Legacy High School in Bismarck, ND. Kickoff against the Warriors is 1 pm on Family Day… All other Marauders home soccer games are played at the MDU Resources Community Bowl.

SENIOR DAY
The Marauders will honor
Eli Olsen for her accomplishments on Senior Recognition Day, set for Friday, October 20, when the Marauders host Concordia-St. Paul. The lone UMary senior, Olsen is in her second season with the Marauders. Twice the NSIC Defensive Player of the Week, Olsen is a native of Buffalo, WY, and has anchored the interior of a rugged UMary defense for two seasons. Olsen sparked the Marauders 2-1 win over previously undefeated Bemidji State when the senior co-captain opened the scoring on a direct free kick from 35 yards out.

RECORDS
The Marauders are 4-6-3 overall and 3-4-2 for 11 points in the Northern Sun and are tied for 8
th place… The Golden Bears are 6-5-2 and 4-3-2 (14 points, 6
th place)… The Warriors are 2-6-4 and 1-5-3 (6 points, 14
th place).

LAST WEEK
The Marauders jumped back into the NSIC playoff hunt with a pair of big wins…
Eli Olsen scored on a 35 yard free kick and
Rio Spruenken also scored from distance – both in the first half - in a 2-1 win over previously unbeaten Bemidji State… UMary wrapped up with a 2-0 win over visiting University of Minnesota Crookston. Both
Olivia Gardner and Maliah Burke scored goals. The Marauders defense held the Golden Eagles without a shot (29-0 advantage UMary).

MOMENTUM
After entering the weekend in 13
th place in the NSIC standings, the Marauders emerged on the other side tied for 8
th place after a pair of wins. With five games remaining – including the next two at home – the Marauders have the opportunity to keep climbing. The top eight qualify for the NSIC tournament and the top four host in the first round. UMary is two points out of seventh and three from sixth place (wines are worth three points, ties are 1 point).

ZERO
For the first time in the Marauders NCAA Division II era of women's soccer, UMary held a team without a shot. The Marauders didn't allow the Golden Eagles a single shot in UMary's 2-0 win over the University of Minesota Crookston, holding a massive 29-0 advantage in attempted shots.

RIO ON A ROLL
Rio Spruenken had a huge role in the Marauders pair of home wins. The All-NSIC midfielder scored the game-winning goal in a 2-1 UMary win over Bemidji State. She added a tremendous assist on a thru ball to
MaLiah Burke for the second goal in UMary's 2-0 win over UMC. The sophomore is third on the Marauders in scoring with five points on two goals and an assist.

MORE MO
Team co-captain
Mo Malone has played a key role in the Marauders attack this season. The all-conference performer bent home a corner kick in a 1-0 UMary win over visiting MSU Moorhead in non-conference action. She has also posted a team-leading four assists, with all coming in the last six games. The defensive midfielder has also played a key role in the Marauders posting five shutouts and allowing just a goal a game… Malone has one goal and four assists for six points, second on the team. She is 2
nd in the NSIC with four assists and a .308 assist average/game.

BLASTS BY BURKE
MaLiah Burke is the Marauders leader in goals (3) and points (7).

GO GO GARDNER
Olivia Gardner leads the Marauders in creating scoring opportunities. She paces the squad in shots attempted (36) and on frame (15). She has been hard for defenders to keep pace with since the start of NSIC play, launching eight shots in a draw with MSU Moorhead and seven in a win over SMSU. Snakebit, the sophomore hit the frame at least five times in the last six games. Gardner is 4
th in the NSIC at 2.77 shots/game.

Molly Fischer has posted five clean sheets this season to rank 5
th in the NSIC in shutouts/game (.385).

The Marauders have qualified for postseason play five straight seasons and are projected to make it six. UMary is picked to finish 5th in the 2023 Northern Sun preseason poll. Last season the Marauders tied for sixth in the NSIC, forging a mark of 10-5-4 overall and 7-4-4 in conference action.Â
