UMary Swimming set for Double Duty with Triangular and Pentathlon Jan. 27-28

BISMARCK, ND - The University of Mary Swimming team is set for double duty January 27-28 after a two-week break from competition. The Marauders are ready to compete in a triangular with Concordia College (MN) and the University of Jamestown Friday at 5 pm from Moorhead, MN, then return home to the BSC Aquatic & Wellness for a Pentathlon with Northern State University Saturday at 1 pm. Saturday will be the Marauders first home event of 2023 and the first home meet in 84 days.

"Each week the team is making progress," said Head Coach Ryan Evans. "I am happy with the training and energy since we returned from Christmas break. I am looking forward to a great week of racing."

ORDER OF EVENTS - SATURDAY

The meets will contrast each other with longer stroke events scheduled for Friday, followed by a sprint pentathlon on Saturday. The scoring for Saturday's meet is unique, rather than team versus team scores, times from all five of the events will be added and the swimmer with the fastest cumulative time will be declared an individual winner.

"The team is looking forward to the opportunity to race this weekend," said Coach Evans. "Friday's meet will allow us to swim some of the longer events that we normally don't race at a dual meet setting. Then we turn around Saturday and have an opportunity to sprint the 50s of stroke and the 100 IM. It will be a great tune-up for conference."

SENIOR DAY
Saturday's final home meet will also serve as senior day as the UMary Swimming program will honor two graduating seniors, Breena DeLegge and Rylie Webb

Breena DeLegge is a senior from El Cajon, California. She will be graduating this spring with a degree in Criminal Justice. DeLegge holds the school record in the 100 freestyle and represented UMary at the NCAA National Championships.

Rylie Webb is a senior from Minot, North Dakota. She will be graduating this spring with a degree in Biology and minors in chemistry and STEM research. Webb holds the school record in the 100 breaststroke and represented UMary at the NSIC Championships.

"Both swimmers have made a big impact for the Marauders, and we greatly appreciate their contributions to the program," said Coach Evans.
