Marauders suffer setback to another ranked foe in weekend finale

Box Score BISMARCK, ND - The energy in the McDowell Activity Center was outstanding once again on day two of the University of Mary volleyball team's first home weekend of the season. Less than a day removed from facing 6th ranked St. Cloud State University, UMary played host to another nationally ranked opponent in the 14th- ranked University of Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs. The Marauders battled UMD tough through three sets but would suffer another sweep defeat to another formidable NSIC volleyball team.

The Marauders got off to a hot start right out of the gates, garnering an early lead and later hanging closely with the Bulldogs 13-11 behind a handful of kills from Nehkyah Ellis and Maddie Cooper. UMD then gained the momentum and took command of set 1, winning 25-14.

Set 2 would pick up where UMD left off in gaining an early advantage, but the Marauders would battle back against the Bulldogs, hanging tightly 12-9 early on. UMD once again regained control of set 2, winning it 25-17 but not before a great effort by UMary going on a four-point run with the set on the line.

Set 3 would show another great effort from the Marauders, engaging in long rallies with the Bulldogs and even winning some, but their momentum would be halted with the definitive score of 25-19.
