BISMARCK, ND – The University of Mary softball team wrapped up their 2022 season in two tough losses Concordia University, St. Paul (35-12-1, 18-10 Northern Sun).
UMary concluded the season with a record of 7-37 overall while going 5-19 in the NSIC. The Marauders finished in 13
th place in the Northern Sun.
GAME 1 University of Mary 5 Concordia St. Paul 8
CSP grabbed a 2-0 in the first inning.
Devyn Ritz cut the Golden Bears lead in half after she hit a solo home run to left-center field. CSP took control of the game in the top of the fifth inning, scoring four runs.
Sariah Perez brought home
Ariana Retuta as the freshman hit a sac fly to center field in the bottom of the sixth inning. The Golden Bears extended their lead to 8-2 in the sixth inning.
UMary attempted to rally in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Haley Berube hit her sixth home run of the season to center field, scoring
Eryn De Jonge and
Erin Murphy. CSP earned the 8-5 victory after the Marauders failed to add on more runs in the seventh.

GAME 2 University of Mary 3 Concordia St. Paul 7
CSP took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning. The Marauders responded with an
Erin Murphy single that drove in
Madison Wszolek and
Rachael Laetsch in the bottom of the second.
UMary held a 2-1 into the top of the seventh inning. The Golden Bears tied the game up with two outs, sending the game into extra innings.
CSP broke the game open in the top of the ninth inning after the Golden Bears scored five runs.
Ariana Retuta hit a sac fly to center field, scoring
Avery Dome in the bottom of the ninth. The Marauders failed to score more runs, securing a 7-3 CSP win.
