UMary tennis loses 4-3 in tight contest to EC

ORLANDO, FL –The University of Mary tennis team (6-2, 5-1 Northern Sun) fell 4-3 in a tight contest to Eckerd College (2-6).

"We lost a very close match. Everyone put forth a great effort and I'm glad to see our athletes compete for every point," UMary head coach Vida Saliendra said.

The Marauders won one out of their three doubles matches. Chloe Chong and Ilona Freitag took down number one doubles 6-2. Doaa Farouk Mohamed and Emily Needham fell in number two doubles 6-3. Heidi Jacobson and Callie McDonald lost 6-1 in number three doubles.

Chong was victorious over Kylie Misdorp 6-2, 3-6, 1-0 in number one singles.

Freitag lost an incredibly close matchup against Theo Schultz 6-1, 5-7, 0-1 in number two singles.

Mohamed continues her undefeated start to the season in number three singles as she took down Lili Reichert 6-1, 6-2.

Needham won a back-and-forth match in number four singles over Alexis Kwasnik 6-2, 4-6, 1-0.

Jacobson fell in number five singles to Julia Triska 1-6, 0-6.

McDonald was defeated by Raia Jagger 1-6, 6-7 in number six singles.
