#1 Marauders open home-and-away series Saturday with afternoon visit from Lumberjacks

THIS WEEK
Back at home for a second straight weekend, the #1 ranked University of Mary opens a home-and-away series with #12 Dakota College at Bottineau on Saturday, February 5. Game time is 2 pm at the Starion Sports Complex Schwan Cadillac Rink in Mandan, ND. The two teams then meet in Bottineau, ND, at 6:30 pm on Sunday, February 6.  
 
HOME ICE
The Marauders are in the midst of playing six out of eight games at home – and 4-of-5 – at home on the Starion Sports Complex Schwan Cadillac Rink.
 
RECORD
The Marauders are 25-4-1-2 (W-L-OTL-T) on the season… UMary is 10-1-1 at home, 12-3-0-2 on the road and 3-0-0-0 on neutral ice… Against ACHA M2 squads the Marauders are 24-2-0-2.
 
MARAUDERS REMAIN #1 IN NATION FOR 8th STRAIGHT WEEK IN 2021-22, 13th OVERALL
The Marauders continue to top the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Men's Division 2 rankings. The defending ACHA M2 champions has ranked first in all eight polls released this season. The Marauders have ranked first nationally in 13 straight polls dating back to the start of the 2020-21. UMary has also be ranked 1st in the West region for 30 straight polls, a run that started in Nov. 2018.

The Marauders 15-game unbeaten string earlier this season is tied for the second-longest in program history. UMary has 13 wins and two ties in the run… the streak began with 11 straight wins (2nd longest win streak)… The Marauders longest unbeaten streak is 16 games in 2020-21… UMary also had a 15-game unbeaten streak in 2018-19.
 
NUMBERS TO KNOW
12 – UMary's 12 goals at Williston State is the most by the Marauders since scoring 15 in the 2019-20 season final against Jamestown

4 – Tanner Eskro scored four goals last weekend and at least one in all three games. He had two in the opener against Montana State. He also had three assists with a goal at Williston State.
10 – The Marauders 4th line had a big weekend as Marcus Kopp, Justin Ohnstad and Braeden Zaste totaled 10 points in two games (3 goals 7 assists). The trio had two goals and four assists Saturday in the 5-2 win over Montana State. In a 12-2 win at Williston State the trio had one goal and three assists.
 
POWER PLAY
UMary are converting 31.7% of their power play opportunities into goals, scoring on 39 of 123 opportunities. Marauders opponents convert on 14% (14-of-99) of its opportunities. During one stretch the Marauders had killed off 44 straight power plays by their opponents.
 
LEADING THE PACK
To no surprise, Marauders all-time leading scorer Alex Flicek leads UMary in points (38), is second in goals (16))and third in assists (22)… Zach Garrett is tied with Flicek for points (38) with 15 goals and 23 assists… Seth Cushing owns a team-high 17 goals and has 19 assists and 36 points… Garrett Freeman is 4th in points with 34 (16G/18A)… Marshall Tschida is 5th with 31 points (12G/19A)… Kyler Moore has 14 goals and 16 helpers for 31 points. All-American Johnny Witzke has 7 goals and 24 assists for 31 points.  
 
BRICK WALL
The trio of Marauders netminders are each having incredible seasons. All-American Kyle Hayden is 16-3-0-2 with four shutouts, a 1.86 goals against average and a .928 save percentage… Conan Hayton is 7-1-1-0 with a 2.04 GAA and a .921 save percentage… Quinn Ackerman owns a record of 2-0-0-0 with a 0.71 GAA and a .965 save percentage… overall the UMary goalkeepers own seven shutouts with a 1.87 goals against average and a .926 save percentage.

Zach Garrett joined Alex Flicek this season as the only two Marauders who have produced 200 points in their UMary careers.
 
IRON MEN
In the fourth season as a program since first taking to the ice in Sept. 2018, the Marauders have played 178 games. Defensive partners Marshall Tschida and Drew Lenertz have played in every game.
 
TIMING
12 Marauders have game-winning goals this season with Seth Cushing (4), Zach Garrett (4) and Garrett Freeman (3) leading the way… Connor Hanson has had impressive timing on his goals as two of his three counters are game-winners… Kyler Moore, Johnny Witzke and Alex Flicek each own two game winning goals to give the Marauders seven skaters with multiple game-winning goals.
